    Hi Carmen

I started using it as soon as the scar was looking healed - and when I saw my consultant on the 6 week check up I asked him and he said it was good to use it.

I had my op Feb 21 - and still use.

I started to use Bio oil within the first 10 days!  as soon as the scar was dry and clean the Dr said it would be ok to use.  Since then I have tried to remember to use it everyday and I now have a great soft scar.

I had 36 staples so it was a bit difficult until they came out and all the tiny marks had healed...did you have glue??

No Crissy, I had staples too 34 of them (you win!)  I asked the nurse before they were removed and she said that I could use it carefully around the scar once the dressing was off and everything was dry.  So when the dressing came off I started to use it. CAREFULLY.  Then after the staples came out (over two sessions) the nurse told me to stop for a few days as a few of the holes were raised and red and they wanted to ensure all healed ok.  Then I started again once told ok to do so.  All the little scabby bits came off when massaging and I have a red but smooth soft scar now.  I still massage it each night and am eight weeks along.

Similar...took a week or so after the staples came out to completely heal all the little holes! Pleased with mine now and I didn't intend to wear a thong or skimpy bikini bottoms EVER again anyway...perish the thought!!

So glad to hear someone else uses one stick!  I sometimes read things on here and wonder why I'm not doing as well as everyone else (apart from going back into hospital for two weeks with the embolism which kinda slowed things down) - I can walk but the muscle isn't strong enough to hold my weight so can't stand on the operated leg or walk without looking like a penguin, so still have to use one stick at 8 weeks.  The Dr has given me more physio sessions and I really hope one day I can throw the damn thing away!  Still shouldn't moan at least I can go out for walks now without the agony. x

Am still taking it easy even offter 10 weeks am not pushing myself too much as i don't want any problems.

I havent had physio since i came out of hospital am just do the exercises when i can, i should do them up to three times aday but sometimes i forget but am sure by walking, and standing putting the weight on the hip helps and moving around.

I do take my crutch with me when going for walks ( just the one)

Hope you'll feel better soon. Chin up you'll get there I use to think am not getting anywhere i was fed up.

I just got in and out of the bath yesterday (20th June) after so long reason being i could not lift the leg to get in the bath.

PT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT.. I cannot stress that enough. Once the muscles have been strengthen then walking and living a normal life becomes easier .. Til it's no longer a issue...A life to value with no pain.. To mild pain.. U must follow UR PT advice in order to allow urself a chance at a good recovery. Always follow thru on check ups if u have any problems. Don't be afraid to ask for X-rays or records on the proceedure.. Keep handy for issues u may have down the line for other surgeons opinions.. Even if UR surgeon is touted to be the best in the land there is always room for mistakes. Know the manufacturer and serial # of the implant. Be informed stay informed.. It's UR health and UR worth every bit of concern.

Be good & do o all UR exercises as u can and u will build up strength.. If u ever have any issues call UR dr. I am not a dr. I can only speak from 3 THR Everone is different. Remember it takes time for the bones to heal ... By exercising u are providing much needed oxygen and blood supply to the areas for better proper & healing...

A 3 time THR...my story is to share my experiences.

hugs, peace & healing prayers sent UR way!
