HIP REPLACEMENT 5 years later

Posted yesterday, but only 1 response. Try to make a long story short:
At 39 needed a THR due to excessive use and arthritis. Was just bone on bone in left hip. Had it done May of 2012. To this day, I still have pain in hip. Mainly where the incision is. If I move suddenly, stub my toe,or turn quickly it feels like a knife is being stuck right inside my scar area but way deeper. Also seriously affecting my knee on the same side. I admit I did not get therapy after surgery (stubborn athlete mentality). I did have 12 weeks of therapy 2 years ago, which after the therapist said there is nothing more we can do for you. ITB band is super tight. But I do not believe that is the reason for my pain. Tired of going to Doctors and getting same reponse: We are not sure what is wrong. Try stretching, and rolling on foam. Done it all. Still not better. Its sad to say I am looking forward to this hip failing, to have the next surgery to hopefully feel better. Any thoughts would be helpful.
Thank you,
Mike

I still get sore pains in both of my scars when I stand for too long, working in a Casino, that is quite often daily.
Perhaps have another Xray of the Hip to see if it has begun to wear at all.
I still use Tramadol 50mg pills Three or Five times a week if the pain gets too bad but lately I am getting used to it and trying to ignore it, but your pains, going down into your knee makes me think that the OA has perhaps spread to your knee, and a more thorough diagnosis of your effected knee is needed, but I would go careful there, as I saw Knee jobs, when I was in hospital, all Lorry Drivers too, and they were all in so much trouble getting over the operation and its complications.
Failing any successful findings there, I feel it is possibly nerve damage inside or a blocked nerve that could be reopened with a course of Acupuncture treatment and massage treatment from someone with strong hands to get in to the thigh muscles and the muscles below your knee.
I hope that other people will reply and I am eager to see what RocketMan says if he picks this up.
He is easy to find here and is very active in posting.
Wishing you well and the very best of luck here please keep us informed, I am following this chat with interest.
Ian.

Thank you Ian. I value anyone's opinion, as I have no idea. I had deep therapy for 12 weeks and nothing came of it. Just set an appointment for the 30th, so eager to go and see what this doctor says. I will update when I get some results. Hope you are surviving with your double replacement. Thanks for your advice

Sorry that you had zo few replies. On reading your story again I think the most likely reason for your pain after all this time is going to be stem related with the knee pain being referred pain. As I think I suggested yesterday that you need to see your original surgeon to carry out X rays and of a CT scan to determine what is going on. If necessary seek another opinion. I very mu h doubt that wear is an issue at this early stage. Hope that helps. Cheers Richard

I had total LHR with bone spurring and have a plate inserted as the bone was so bad. I did physiotherapy in hospital and then I then had hydrotherapy for 2 sessions a week for 6 weeks when I was cleared to go into pool. It worked thankfully as there is nothing like that pain. I would suggest an x-ray or scan that may show up an issue. I live in Australia so am not sure what country you are from.
All the best.
