Are you ok with calling the nurse for a XRAY? Just to check for any injury? Also rest as much as possible ice the area and take pain meds as needed until you can call or see your doctor. Hope your better soon. It's only been less than a week since major surgery usually the first few weeks are the toughest. I hope all is OK.

I suggest seeing a good chiropractor if it does not settle within a couple of days. Pain meds can help but allowing to relax. You may have put your back out which is where a good chiropractor comes in.

You should call your surgeon. I was told not to extend my leg backwards n over other leg. But maybe you just pulled muscle

    Hi Shayne,

Hopefully you straightened out the good leg (non operated side).

At 6 weeks post op the only restriction I had was not to extend that leg (operated side) backwards.  You are only 4 days?  I would give your specialist a call just to be on the safe side.

For the first few weeks you shouldn't be extending your leg out of its normal downward position due to risk of dislocation or the tearing of soft tissue around the hip.  It's also very easy to strain or pull muscles, which is probably what you have done.

Make sure that you rest, elevate your leg and apply ice packs several times a day.  This will help reduce swelling and pain.

    Best of luck!
