Hip replacement revision

Hi I am hoping for a hip revision of shorter length syndrome of 5/8 inch. I see a different ortho in a week. Any suggestions or successes on this subject? Thanks I desperately need help with pain but I'm still hanging in there 9 months post op.

Sorry you are having these problems. That is a large leg length discrepancy! And you are having pain as well. Where is the pain? Have you had a diagnosis for the reason for your pain? I don't know if revisions are done just for LLD. It's good you are seeing a different orthopedist for another opinion. Perhaps there are other problems going on, and maybe this new doctor can properly diagnose and treat you.

I am almost 9 months post-op and am scheduled for another surgery next month with new surgeons. My gluteal tendons are torn and preventing me from walking without a severe limp since my THR. I also have pain in my hip and thigh, so the two surgeons who will be operating on me will be looking for other problems when they have me opened up.

They also may replace the ball part of my prosthesis to make up for a very small LLD that I have post-op, only about 3mm, but that is not the main reason for the surgery.

All the best to you as you work to get this figured out, Lori!

Thank you. I hope your surgery goes well. I also have trochanteric bursitis but may have more than that after hopefully they will do an MRI. If I can get a good doc around here lol the one I'm seeing I hope will shed some light. It's been the chiropractor o far with measurements on X-ray only and looking at me when I step on one leg vs the other and me measuring myself on a wall and in the gp office one leg va the other. I just hope for a fix and get my life back on track without looking like a drunken sailor lol I look forward to hearing more successful stories

Hi Lori. After having my first hip done, my leg discrepancy was about same as yours. When second hip was done, legs were perfectly even. Your surgeon will know how far to implant your replacement to make your legs an even pair. Before going into surgery room, I just said to him, no matter what else you do, MAKE ME EVEN! You should be fine and best of luck.
