Hip revision too much offset

Posted , 2 users are following.

i had a right THR this year in Jan (7 months ago) and i can barely walk, in such pain and agony.

it has come to light that I have been offset for too much by a centimetre. I am now looking for a revision surgeon in the UK. i am now seeking out a surgeon in the UK that will take on an uncemented revision to attempt to remove and replace the stem for something smaller as this is far too big for me. Has anyone had this problem before or has anyone heard an uncemented stem revision for components that are too large ......many thanks

i am sorry you had to endure all that and the surgeon did't do anything about it immediately. for the pain alone is absolutely unbearable. it would have been a lot easier on you if the implants were removed before the bone grew and secured the primary implants. not to mention all the damage now done to the area from misaligned components and negligent surgery. the doc knew what was wrong right away.. the surgeons do not have the appropriate experience required for this complex surgery.

revision is removing the primary implants and replacing with new components. either metal, ceramic or a combo. please be sure the new surgeon is a 'Revision Specialist' ... very important.... the first surgeon should not be touching you ever again..period. that's the problem with the THR surgeon's practice on a few patients to become certified but have not the time and practice long enough to be experience over hundreds of hip patients..to prevent what happen in your case.

be sure you have help after returning home or in rehab recovery center. this is a bit more complicated and dont just let anyone put you at home after surgery with no one to care for you. you may take a longer to walk on the leg. it will be a definite exercise of your patience every day.. all i did after 3 THR was walk. and one revision. walk.. walk... walk...i am not a doctor just 30 years experience with three THR surgeries.

get a rollator walker very important dont put cost in front of your recovery... get one..it is much easier to practice walking heel to toe to obtain a good solid gate. it took me 9months to a year just to walk without help. there are many other aides that will help after surgery for recovery if you are interested let me know.

the replacement for femur is larger see why. check out the manufacturer of the components ans see. them as a reminder please see revision THR procedure explanation .or youtube description. this helped me understand what was done to my hip and learned to be boss of my own recovery. your the Boss be assertive . be your own self advocate and self protector .

sending good blessings your way that you have a successful revision. please keep me posted.
