Hip specialist with chronic pain knowledge

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a London or South East UK based hip replacement specialist but who also has a good understanding of chronic pain and other pain syndromes?

I am very likely to need a THR but also have some various chronic pain issues which complicates the matter! So I'm after some advice from a really good specialist.

Any advice you can offer would be immensely appreciated,

Thanks,

Liam

Hi Liam, I live in Norfolk otherwise I would have consulted with a friend's surgeon Mr Robert Marston at the St John and St Elizabeth hospital in St John's Wood.  My friend had both knees replaced there and the treatment and care was second to none.  Having said that this is a private hospital but the cost of an initial consultation would be well worth it as you won't wait weeks for a proper diagnosis.  And I'm sure Mr M will recommend an NHS hospital near you.  Good luck.

Hi there - thanks for the reply. I had heard that she was very good - can you tell me why you believe this?

Do you know if she also has any knowledge of chronic pain?

      Thanks a million,

      Liam

Top quality & experience she now tours the world instructing orthopedic surgeons on her techniques -she treats the royal family & they have researched all her work exclusively so you would be in the best hands so if

she can't help she will know who to see for sure ☺

Sorry can I ask one more question please?

How did you find Sarah M-A as a person? Was she friendly/approachable/empathetic?

I'd read somewhere that her bedside manner wasn't her strong point but I'm hoping that doesn't mean she's not easy to talk to etc.

      Thanks again!

I found her straightforward and direct and clear so" tells it like it is"

I really took to her as there were no underhanded meanings.

She is exactly who you need to see- just be plain & direct too

maybe other people had expectations of empathy which she didn't satisfy maybe ☺
