HIP SURGERY SUTURE REMOVAL

Posted , 8 users are following.

I have posted on here before about my experiences on my first surgery of when i caught an infection turned out to be a Staph Infection.  What are Sutures like to be taken out, i know they are going to hurt what has not up until now with our hips. Has any of your fellow hipsters had Sutures from Hip surgery? i go back in 2 weeks to get them removed.  Could you let me know how you got on.  Had to go back again to see what was going on. and this time my Surgeon Sutured me up as i did not want staples again, as when i had 38 of them the first time one of the staple holes started to leak went on for a few weeks 4 is a long stroy if you want to read check it out Daywalkers Update. I am so angry that i have to start my recovery from the 16th Jan instead of the 12 Jan when i had my surgery done the first time round, sleeping on my back for 5 weeks, now i have to do another 2, and then some.

Hi, sucture removal should not hurt, I have removed 1000's and never had a patient say it hurt or even winced. I had a continous sucture for my THR, removal took only a minute and did not hurt at all, the nurse who removed it looked like it was hurting her but then she had never done the proceedure before.

I am sure you will be fine and have nothing to worry about.

    Best wishes,

    Dot x

Great news to hear that Dot, the sutures looked horrid, got  the nurse to take it after my dressing change. I feel like i have gone in and had 2 done at different times ie because of the recovery time again. i know iti s 12 weeks recovery, but as i mentiond i have to start it from scratch thank goodness i did and continue to do my exercises which i think helped me with recovery in the strength in my leg. I just hope i never see this Staph infection again this time around, i followed everything by the book, and this is what i get, 1 in 100 and i am 1. Such a hard time for me as my Dad only passed away a couple of weeks ago, the day after i got out of hospital on the 16th Jan. I guess  i could ask myself how did i get this i will never know. My immune system must have been so low, trying too to fight my surgery. Dot you have removed loads of Sutures it must have been good for you that the Nurse did not hurt you, If one is in a profession and has to have it done by someone else one want it to be just so. I would not know if my sutures Dot are continuous or not, i have a pic , but we don't put them on here do we, i on facebook, not sure if you are. Take care x

I had a couple of dozen staples removed at 2 weeks post surgery. It did not hurt even one iota. I hope you have the same experience!

I had sutures. Whoever did them was a neat freak who knows how to do those beautiful running stitches that only leave a very thin scar. I had them out about two weeks after the op. The nurse snipped one end and then pulled them through in one go from the other end. I felt maybe a tiny pinch, but no pain...

I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your father. Combined with your poor outcome from the Staph, you must have to be in a terrible state. Beware of depression, it can be a post op side effect and I was never told when it happened to me. Very sad memories came flooding back and I spent a lot of time crying. Seems it's usually one of the surgeons who is a "staph carrier" - I remember one at the hospital where I worked in the OR. I don't think it just floats in the air, and all your surgical supplies used have been sterilzed completely. I'm no expert at all... Again I just wanted to let you know how sorry I am for the death of your father.
