Hippy Birthday to me!

Well, it's 12 months ago today that my THR was done. I have to say that it changed my life. I was practically housebound. I couldn't face walking a quarter of a mile to the pub, that's how bad it was. Now I am happily walking 5 miles, doing the gardening, generally living a normal life. It's not all been roses on the way. Being on Tramadol and Ibuprofen for a month, then the jitters as I tried to wean myself off the Tramadol was not fun. Sleeping on my back for 6 weeks was not fun. But that was just a few weeks. I should have 20+ years before this new hip wears out, and who knows it might outlast me. So if anyone is wondering whether to have the operation done, I would say don't hesitate. Do it.

Let me wish you hippy birthday! The best thing you can do for yourself to escape relentless pain. I was so excited when my new hip was 1, and then 2! Coming up to year 3 in September. Yes, I'm a little restricted in so much as even now socks and laces are awkward, and I do get pain now and again, but who cares? The freedom from pain makes it well worth it.
