histamine-free diet for 2 weeks but rashes dont go!

Hello.. im new to the forum..hope i get support and answers here

Ive been on histamine-free diet for two weeks now but rashes dont go.

Before the diet, i used to have hives every other day and took 1 pill of Xyzal when this happened or else i would itch forever and my lips and toes will swell.

During the diet, there is a mild rash every day but it vanishes without meds smile .. i only had to take a pill of Xyzal 5 days after i began the diet cause the rash that day was unbearable.

Im also taking cortisteroid 20mg daily since im pregnant and i have thyroid antibodies

Im wondering, since im not getting any histamine inside my body..why do i still have rashes and itches!!

Any idea or similar experience?

Yea any replys containing links get moderated automatically. Problem is they won't be uncensored till Monday. It's rather annoying. As to finding a physician, that part is hard.what I just did was walk into the office with my symptoms and research into differentials and treatments. Most doctors don't know anything of this illness and if they do, they trivialize it in a very patronizing way and this is infuriating.

I'd start by googling allergists/immunologists who specialize in urticaria. Then show up prepared and ask them to be aggressive otherwise they'll prescribe you something weak like antihistamines which we know never/barely work. To ensure this treatment outcome, make sure you have a list of otc antihistamines, h-2 blockers and topical meds you've tried as well as doses and frequency. Watch out for docs that will milk you for visit reimbursements (US) problem. Then take it from there

Finally!! If finding physician is that problematic in US, then u can imagine the trouble in Middle East where I live. I will try to get leaky gut tests first to eliminate or include the option. I found 4 lab tests that can indicate the condition. Then i will either try to heal it or move to CIU option.

For now.. eating more healthy for the baby, reducing drugs to the minimum..

      Thank u and best wishes

I totally agree with you. I was lucky in the UK my specialist referred me onto an urticaria specialist just two hours away from where I live.

Hi Neena, search low salicylate diet. This helps me and others. Low histamine has some fruit and veg that is very high salicylate and it made my CSU worse.

If you have thyroid antibodies, then it probably is more likely that your urticaria is an autoimmune problem. You probably need to see a really good immunologist, there are also other antibodies they can test you for that they are much more likely to find if you already have Thyroid antibodies.

I have hives like you and just had a test return with high TSH levels, my immunologist has just run a thyroid antibody test and I'm waiting for the results. Autoimmune conditions do tend to run in packs. That said, Ciclosporin or Xolair are probably the best options at any rate from what my immunologist has told me.

Have you ever gone on treatment for your Thyroid issue? There are some reports in the past of thyroid treatment helping in cases of hives. But, being pregnant I don't really know if that is an option.
