Hit back of head and anxiety

So today I decided to vacuum out my purse and the hose on my vacuum doesn't stretch well. I was on the floor and pulled it and the vacuum fell over and the handle hit me on the back of the head. This was about 12 hours ago. Of course my head hurts, especially where it hit and I have a headache (I get headaches regularly). I checked my pupils which seem good and are reacting accordingly and I haven't vomited or blacked out. Only thing is my headache and anxiety and being afraid to go to bed. I tried an icepack and it didn't do much. My neck doesn't seem stiff and I can move but now my lower back hurts. I might just go to the urgent care in the morning if I am still feeling like this.

I'm a 69 year old female who should know better but if I went to the hospital or doctor every time I bumped my head I'd be there every week!  Walking into concrete lintels, standing on then falling off a chair and hitting my face on a door while wearing glasses, banging my head on low tree branches, I've done them all and more.   As there's not much fat on your head it's easy to bruise and if you actually break the skin it's suprising how much blood comes out.   You'll probably have a bit of a sore head for a couple of days but I wouldn't think you've done any damage by just the handle hitting you, however sore it feels.   If the handle had hit your leg and hurt as much would you be thinking you'd done some major damage to it?  As it's your head you tend to be more anxious which doesn't help and your back hurting could be if you jerked your body when the handle hit you.   I should see how you are in the morning, it'll probably still be sore but it sounds as if you're an anxious person which could account for the frequent headaches, possibly caused by anxiety but maybe it's those that would need sorting out rather than a bump on the head from a vacuum cleaner handle. Hope this helps.

I love to get a plain common sense answer to some of the questions asked,

especially about accidents, just shows how much stress and anxiety we carry.

It's miserable not feeling "yourself" all the time but I cannot stress (there's that

word again!) how much anxiety we carry.  Turn off the news and the sick tv,

enjoy nature, although we are in a senior facility, we have a small balcony

where we have a hummingbird feeder, a finch feeder and flowering plants

which we tend lovingly.  I wish everyone a peaceful, painfree new year.

life is as good as we make it - enjoy every moment

    and good wishes for 2016.
