Hi guys i wasn't sure where to post this but I'm just trying to figure out the damage i could have caused and if it is worth it to spend 1000 bucks on a ct scan. So about 3 months ago i was hit harder than i have ever been hit before. I was at work using a hammer on a press in order to push these cemented chains apart. I had full pressure on it when suddenly the hammer/tool i was using slipped and shot out with all of that force and hit me directly in my left side, It hit so hard it literally dropped me to the ground in a split second. i didn't see it happen i just heard the pop and when i looked up from the ground un able to breath i noticed the hammer was not where i left it. Theres no telling how fast it was traveling but i know that i didn't see it. and that i had never been hit by anything that hard. it knocked the wind out of me and caused a contusion on my left floating ribs. I don't have health insurance and i work for a small family business so i didn't at the time want to get a ton of scans done i just got an X-ray which showed the contusion. that was back in like november, recently i went to my chiropractor for back pain and told him about it and he was shocked and said i could have died from it. so now I'm wondering if there are more tests i should run. Maybe my back pain is caused from that. Also i get a lot of sharp pains in my left side, but they aren't constant one minute ill be fine and the next, agonizing pain. any suggestions? or ideas of what kind of damage that could have done? thanks guys

I do not know what damage you might have from your accident but you might want to look into it. It's too bad that you do not have health coverage. The family business that you work for must have insurance for their employees injured on the job. Where would you be if you were hit in the head rather than in your rib? I don't know where you live but some cities/States have no or low cost health checks. Perhaps if you call your closest hospital and ask to talk to the hospital Social Worker for advise or referrals. Or call your local health department and see what resources are available to you. Where did you go for your xray? Perhaps you could check with them to see what they suggest. Good luck.
