I had a 4th generation test 14 and 16th day post exposure which was on the 17th of Nov . how reliable is the test?

3. is there possibility of transmission

4. the herpes I have is Genital, is it possible to catch the oral herpes from him without contracting HIV 😢

    Hey,

You do not need to be worried about if you have HIV. Here is the reason.

First of all, HIV can not pass by kissing. There is someone once asked the CDC about why they put this information that kiss not transmit HIV on their website https://www.nhs.uk/chq/Pages/3099.aspx?CategoryID=118 ;and they responded by stating:

We do not have data on the proportion of people who have been infected through French kissing alone, but we stress that this is likely to be none. The risk is theoretical and remote.

So, If your only exposure was deep kissing then you do not need to test for HIV. You cannot get HIV this way.

Secondly, you could get oral herpes by kissing someone who has herpes virus, i suggest you go to see the doctor about treating herpes. (It may NOT be herpes, weather changed or lack of Vitamin B2 also could be a reason why your lip itches or breaks)

Thirdly, as I mentioned before, kissing is not a way that HIV transmit, unless both of you two have bleeding gums or opening cut, otherwise you will not get HIV in that way, because Saliva has certain proteins that make it an extremely poor carrier of HIV. As a result, kissing, sucking, and licking the lips, mouth, and tongue are basically safe.biggrin

Finally, the window period for testing HIV by using 4th generation (p24 antigen and antibody) is 28 days, so if you test by day 14th and day 16th and get a negative result, i think you can move on your life (Honestly, I do not see any point that you should do the test). But if you want to be totally relax, a 28 days test with 4th generation will considered as conclusive (I believe you will be Negative if the only behavior is kiss).

All in all, I do not think you will get HIV by Kissing.I think it is good  to see your doctor about your herpes and if you can, do a full screen test in the 28 days, when you get all of your result with NEGATIVE back, you really can move on to your normal life.

I hope my answer helped and if anything else you want to ask, please just let me know. biggrin

    Best,

    Hugo

Herpes and HIV infection. ... People with HIV and herpes are more able to pass on HIV as having herpes increases HIV viral load; in addition, HIV is present in herpes blisters. The presence of a herpes virus can increase the level of genital 'shedding' of HIV .. And in our case, both of us have herpes. the person has oral, and I have genital.

Besides, the person has a cold sore that night we kissed, which was closer to his mouth beneath his Lower jaw.

      hey,

Tooth decay is not considered as open cut.

      Do not worry.

I understand your anxiety very well.

But for HIV transmit, it needs enough virus to enter your bleed stream. If there is no fresh bleed exchanged then you cannot be transmitted by this way.

Just wait few more days then go to see the doctor and do a test (4th generation test), then you will be relaxed when you saw your negative result.

As Hugo said, it's highly unlikely you have HIV, but you may as well get tested again after 28 days.  It's possible you may have got oral herpes, but that's not really a problem.

HIV isn't the big problem it used to be anyway.  If you google "rather have hiv than diabetes", you'll find a 2014 article from a UK doctor saying that he'd rather be diagnosed HIV than diabetes as the outcomes are so much better.  Most people aren't nearly as worried about diabetes though.

28 days is the final call for the test.

I doubt that you will get a negative result back cuz some new infection will shown positive result in the 10th day.

Do not worry and you will be fine.

@ml66uk. Thanks so much for your concern. I just pray i don't have the virus. Because here in Africa, there's total discrimination. I might be frustrated to do what I don't want to do. Besides having HIV is better though. But being infectious is worst. I can't take it to be so infectious. I can't take it for people to be scared to relate with me. I am a pharmaceutical student. this baffles me so much

Besides I'm noticing some strange symptoms, there's acne on my face last week, tho I really had a lot of stress couple of weeks and I also changed my body cream, now I am experiencing hazy vision, extreme tiredness, I haven't been eating well at all. just thinking all day..

I think all of the symptoms come form your anxiety.

Try to do something else and do not think it always.

      YOU WILL BE FINE.
