Hiv symptoms after potential exposure. I’m terrified.

What are my chances of contracting hiv? I’m a woman,. I might have had some skin tear due to the angle during intercourse. I also gave him oral and he came inside my mouth.

Here are my symptoms after :

  1. Diarrhea - I’ve been having diarrhea before the potential exposure because of the excessive alcohol consumption which i normally get (so 2 weeks of diarrhea (with alcohol consumption) and 2 weeks after I stopped drinking. All together 4 weeks. Wasn’t worried at first because it was an on going thing

  2. Small bumpy rashes infront and behind my armpit. Slightly red, slightly itchy (very mild), generally bumpy. Been sleeping very late everyday and been under the sun a lot as well. Happened 3 days after potential exposure and rashes lasted for probably a week.

  3. Feeling warm with tingling sensation 5 days after possible exposure, symptoms lasted for 5-6 days. Body temperature was normal, no fever.

  4. Mild muscle/ body ache - the kind of body ache one gets before fever hits but very mild. Comes and goes and all together lasted for 15 days

  5. Huge itchy bumps around upper back and shoulder (4 on the back and 1 on shoulder). not sure if I was bitten or it developed on it’s own. Happened 25 days after possible exposure, itch lasted 2-3 days.

  6. Arm and armpit numbness - went to the doctor and scanned both areas, lymph node was not swollen. Numbness happened in 3 and 5 weeks after. Lasted for about a week.

The guy told me he was tested but he slept with other girls 2 weeks before and after the test. I’m feeling hopeless. Please help.

    did you use protection with intercourse? to help ease your mind go get a test done. i am sorry i have no answers other then that

      i actually used protection on the first one and didn on the second one. i didnt mention on my post because i didnt wanna make it confusing. the reason why im not talking about the unprotected sex its because the guy got tested and he didnt receive any calls within a week. so i assumed that hes clean but i really dont know.

      ive tested and i should get my result today but i told the doctor to not reveal it to me until friday. im too scared

      one was protected and the other was unprotected. Both didnt ejaculate inside of me. i did oral on both, came inside my mouth.

      ive got my result just now. i tested negative at 5 weeks. will get tested again in 3 months. hope there wont be any surprises. im still scared but less anxious now.

      thank you so much for responding to me. im really greatful for all the support ive received from people who doesnt even know me. 😂

      So happy that you got your results today and it is negative.

      Here is the analysis from my knowledge about your behaviors.

      1. The main behavior you had was mainly a) protect vaginal sex without ejaculation.(Safe sex!) b) unprotected vaginal sex without ejaculation. (0.08-0.3, depends on if the man is coming from a high-income country or not, and this number talking about WITH EJACULATION, so your chance of getting HIV even lower) c) unprotected oral sex with ejaculation. (0-0.04%) The possibility of contracting HIV via different methods are followed. Therefore, you could see the chance of getting HIV is very low.
      2. I am wondering the test method you used for HIV testing, as in the UK, 4 weeks window time for testing HIV with the 4th generation test method (with p24 antigen and antibodies), but for syphilis, you should test again at 3 months time for get confirmed. But again, I am not worried about you that much as the 5th weeks results are all negative, which is really a good indicator.
      3. You mentioned your symptoms before and I want to say to you, "Stop looking at these stuffs, it will make you more anxious.

      I hope that helps and again, you have very little risk, so do not be that worried and again, I am really confident with an all NEGATIVE results from you, but please be aware to use condom if you do not know about the person's sexual conditions.

      wow. where were you during the time when i was extremely anxious?! such detailed explaination. Thank you for your explaination and thoughts on this 😃 oh and the guy whom i had unprotected with is from a high income country. and no, i dont think i want to have sex with anyone i barely know after this. its really not worth it!

      so ive spoken to people and did my research. one guy who is straight caught hiv through protected sex and it took him 2 years to test positive after exposure. the other guy who is gay, caught it through protected sex too. so i dont think its actually that hard to catch it. the guy who took 2 years to test positive, is convinced that 3 months window period is wrong and that is what that attributes to the onward transmission. its all false negative.

      in my opinion, i think it could happen but maybe not very common. any thoughts?

      Hello,

      I am try to find out the case that you mentioned about the guy caught HIV by protected and get confirmed after 2 years, and another gay guy caught HIV by protected sex.

      Well, I mean there are some people who has immunity issues could delay the HIV window time, for example people just have big operation, or have long-term immunity response issue (If you have, you will be told when you were a baby). But it is very rare and I have not seen any case of correctly using condom and still got HIV as it will be great if you could send me the link.

      Because if it is real, it will be a big news, and checked after 3/2 years? who could 100% ensure they do not have any risky sex behavior after the first time checkout?

      SO, I HIGHLY DOUBT！

      Moreover, window time depends on testing methods, for example, PCR (10 days), P24 antigen/ antibodies (28 days), 3rd geneartion HIV test from Canada, result showed after 1 min (6 weeks), only antibodies test (3 month).

      Therefore, we could not say 3 months window period is wrong.

      I saw your PM about more concerns, will reply to you there.

      In sum, I still confident with your status.

      Hey,

      All of the cases are RARE cases, and all of the source you gave to me was from 2009-2010 as that time the testing methods may not be as advanced as nowadays.
