HIV transmission through broken skin

Posted , 2 users are following.

Hello,

Is it possible to get HIV if person who is infected touch my bleeding open wound in case that this person has some small amount of infected blood on his hand?

I have found statement that HIV transmission never occured in such circumstances, and even one case was not confirmed ever.

Other places inform that odds for transmission through cut are between 0.1% to 0.3%.

Do you know any confirmed case?

The same question regarding Hepatitis C.

Thanks,

Hi are you saying that you have an open wound that was bleeding and someone who is HIV positive touched it with his hand, if this is the case did his hand also have an open wound??? if not then i would say that you probably have more chance of winning the lottery.

Being contaminated by someone with AIDS or HIV is not like catching a cold its supposed to be not as infectious as at first thought.

I think hepatitis is possibly more contagious though but still needs the right conditions, for example sexual contact, why are you asking

this person has not visible bleeding wound but can have some minor scratches etc.

I am curious, because many pages inform about possibility of infection through blood, but many also inform that infection through wounds is almost impossible.

For example if I played basketball with my bleeding hand, and my wound have contact with other players, whom are from higher risk HIV group.

Regarding Hepatitis I know that problem is more difficult because virus can live in dried blood and can be transmitted even from surfaces, but I am asking if any reports of that are known.

I have also heard that hepatitis C is

very rarely transmitted in sexual way.

anyway, I had not got any risky sexual contacts, so this is not a case.

I know most popular transmission ways of HIV and Hep C, but I wonder if such or similar situation as described can bring any risk of transmission or are completely safe?
