I feel as if I am ready to play hockey again. I feel strong in my legs and think skating will help strengthen my legs even more. Any opions on that?

John,
I was going to ask if you meant ice hockey or field hockey until I saw the part about skating again. Skating would probably be okay. I'd be a little leary about playing ice hockey again though. That's a tough sport!

It's an old man league, with little to no contact.

That's awesome!! Just be careful especially with falling as you don't want to hurt that new hip. I take it all hip precautions are lifted? Have fun just be careful. LD🤓🤠

All depends on age , conditioning and risk.

I totally agree. Risks of fall, risks of twists, risks of being belted with a stick our another body.... I'd say 10 weeks, if ever, is way too early to be willing to run that sort of risk. Even I wouldn't try that's on my hip (almost four months post op), and as many people here will tell you, I'm generally up for trying most things with caution. Don't do anything without speaking to your surgeon.

What technigue of surgery did you have ?
I waited 5 months to play street hockey (indoors) same as ice but no skates, we run.
I was given the ok to play at 3 months.
As other have said, check with your surgeon !
Where do you play ?
Have fun

I had the same type of surgery.
I play in the Raleigh, NC area. I probably wont play much longer, in my view, this type of hockey is harder on the body, no gliding ! The ppl I play against there ages range from mid 20's to mid 40's and I am 57.
If I am not happy with the way I am playing, its time to stop. I have played for over 40 yrs.
I have played in tourneys in Las Vegas, Ocean City, MD & Atlanta.
Its hard to give it up, at least I have other sports to play !
Good Luck !!
