GP will give me a few more....just a week.....I'll have to manage!! Today I'm terribly nauseated....back in bed resting with ice on now......after just managing my exercises.....it's nice to be home....lots of support from friends....reminds me though of Chico saying about managing at home easier with paid help!!! Lol....luckily I have great and supportive friends 😁......how is everyone else getting On??? In advance I apologise for typos.....it's the drugs!!!!!!!

Oh Linda, so sorry to hear you are having a bad time. Really hope it improves.

I came home Saturday evening, so far so good. Managing to get a good night's sleep. Almost at 90 degree bend. It's just so stiff and tight.

I'm on fragnin injections as anti coagulant as I have a blood clotting disorder.

Pain meds are paracetamol, ibroprofen, codiene and nefopam when needed.

Very tired but pain not too bad and able to walk and move around ok.

Its early days. Hope things improve. Keep us updated with how you are doing.

    Lots of love x

      Gosh you are doing brilliantly.

I'm going to cut painkillers down today as my stomach feels a little unsettled.

Been doing each set of exercises 3 times a day. Still very tired

Got to wear the TEDS for 4 weeks. I do have a blood clotting condition though.

When do you have your first physio appointment. Not got mine until next week (2 weeks after Op).

      You take care. X

My nausea is awful, esp for the first two hours after I wake but valoid is helping....I need my painkillers 3 to 4 times a day.... Will try wean to solpadeine when I can ...first physio is the 15th ....after staples are out....take care too xx...

Hey there, I’m 10 days post op, I’m starting to wean myself off of the Hydrocodone, and am transitioning to tramadol.  So far so good. I’m doing my PT at home. I’ve had some good days and some bad days, but feel like I’m making progress! I can completely straitened my knee and my bend is around 85 degrees. I’m got a pressed fit Fixation Stryker joint instead of a cemented joint. If all goes well I’m suppose to be able to resume my running in a year or so.

Are you in UK? Wow, with three kneebies fresh out the operating theatre, anything could happen! 😊😀😃

No, seriously, well done to you all...the fun fair ride starts now!

It's going to be well worth the effort...

      Just hold on tight!

I'm almost 20years since my left and 18 since the right tkr. There is light at the end of the tunnel. Recovery is a journey not a race, don't try to push it too much. Physio & exercise but don't over do it, ice and elevation. Use pain medication to control your pain , easier to exercise if you're not in pain. Don't ask how long recovery takes, or where you should be at any stage. Everyone is different. As jenny80029 said "It's going to be well worth the effort". You should have many years of pain free knees to look forward to. Try and avoid activities which cause lots of twisting or impact to your knee. You will find plenty of helpful posts on here. Do not despair if things seem to be taking too long you will get there in the end. Good luck.

To the newbies and oldies.....how far Do you push it to get the bend.?? ..I pushed it last night and then the throbbing pain in bed kept me awake....I'm anxious I'll lose the 85 degrees I have....staples out Tuesday...does it make it easier after ??? Physio app booked for that Thurs to check I'm progressing ok...following my book and doing exercises three times a day ...good at them all I think..but that feel slide is hard work!!

Just nudge gently along, no need to force it.

      Swelling inhibits the bend.

It's very early days...be kind to your knee!

Work to the pain, only, then stop.

Thanks Jenny.. it feels very tight today....only managed exercises twice....is that normal day 7, this tightness...??

7 days is very early, take it easy, a little and often , but don't over do it. They say "no pain no gain" but too much pain no gain either. Gradual increase the physio and exercise much better than trying to force recovery. There really is no normal , it is different for everyone. There are many posts on here that can help.

Mine felt really tight yesterday but was less so today and managed all exercises.

I keep getting so incredibly hot even when just resting. Do you have this?

I'm normally really warm Debs but finding myself using the heating more now....it's v cold out too though.......I'd say I'm feeling cold more than heat!!!....I can still move around today with the tightness BUT def sorer today....is that even a word!! Another day in paradise looms! 😉

      Keep taking the painkillers regularly.

I didn't have a great night, not through pain but from being so hot, then cold and then boiling again! Woke up wet through, don't know what this is about!!

Hope you have a better day today. X

Push it but not until it’s unbearable but to the point of being uncomfortable.

Once your staples are out it’ll feel far easier.

I’m now 12 months post TKR and my bend is very good as I worked on it every day .. little bit often.

The best exercise I found was lying on the sofa.hold your knee and gently press it down until you feel a tightening but not pain.

My ROM got to 140/145 which my consultant thought was amazing and I’m very pleased I worked towards this.

      Good luck
