Honest experience with blips on Paroxetine please....

Hi all, I've been on Paroxetine 30mg for 8 weeks now and suffered a blip (big panic attack out of nowherr, dizzy and sick) on Friday, has definitely set me back. Feel like I'm back to square one again with the anxiety and depression.

Before this I was on Paroxetine 20mg for a year and a half but tried to come off them. Following bad advice from the doc I had a horrendous episode.

I've read that paroxetine the second time around can be not as effective but I never really quit cold turkey.

I've also read that it can take some people 2,3 months to level out.

Just want some honest feedback and advice please x

Hi Sophie I'm totally in the same position as you I was on paroxetine for the past 2 and a half years it eliminated my anxiety I was able to be normal I weaned my self off by not completely and ended up relapsing this time I just started back up to 30 mg my regular dose and got all the bad side effects that I didn't get the first time I'm on week five and feel no improvement on my anxiety I am also afraid it won't work the same. My stomach turns I wake up anxious I'm also waiting for that day to wake up with relief again this time it doesn't get me tired or give me an appetite which worries me my arms get numb and still can't go places free and clear. How are you doing now?

Hi, thanks for your reply. It's such a horrible feeling isn't it! I'm in my second week of 40mg now and have had increased anxiety and suicidal thoughts (I would never do anything though!) But as a mum of a young child, I feel awful for thinking that.

I've read paroxetine doesn't work as well the second time but is this really true?! I try not to Google stuff too much as there are so many different stories/versions, it just confuses me!!!

I honestly wish I never started this medicine, my anxiety was much more manageable before this.

How are you doing now?? x

I'm still having really bad anxiety... And it might now work the same is what we might be experiencing but you might have the chance to wake up feeling great we need to give it a little more time. You I can honestly say have given it a full trial at 11 weeks. I've heard it's common every time you raise the dose you get increased side effects again but you can give it a bit more time since you said your at the 2 week mark in 40 mg. I myself have 2 little ones which makes it harder because I was good with them till now. I think everybody's experiences those suicide thoughts to a minor extent but we won't do it life is to precious and those thoughts come up just because you think you'll be feeling like that forever. I think it was more manageable too before but I was able to do it all on the medicine
