I am 25 years old and have been on antidepressants since I was 10. I have been on effexor, celexa, lexapro, luvox, paxil, and more that I cant remember. With every one I had some side effect. I kind of just put it to the side and struggled through my side effects. I was recently switched from lexapro to zoloft for 4 weeks. 4 weeks of more side effects and hell. I decided I need to come off everything. I don't want to feel medicated and suffer any longer. As of 7 days ago I have stopped zoloft completely. Day 1, 2, and 3 were bearable. I wasnt nauseous or anxious at all. Day 4 it got worse, day 5 my head was zapping constantly, severe dizziness, and overall severely uncomfortable. Today is day 6 and it is unbearable. I couldnt go to work becuase the dizziness and head shakes are so bad. I just want to be off meds. I feel like I have come this far why give up now but i am struggling. Any advice?

A planned withdrawal would have been more desirable. You now need your doctors advice

I did. My doctor was the one who told me to do it. I was on a low dose that they thought id be ok...

Oh Leah these drugs need to be reduced ultra slowly even from a low dose.

it took me 7 months to come off from 50mg using the 10% withdrawal method. (In brief you cut back 10% of the dose for a month then 10% of what left each month until you are off completely). It took patience but I avoided all the withdrawal symptoms, I've now been off them completely for about 4 months and I am fine.

If if you search this thread 'sertraline withdrawal, does it go away' you will find the link to the 10% method, you will also see that some will advise that you now reinstate the drug to a smaller dose that you had been taking to help your nervous system stabilise for a month before you begin to taper off.

it wil like e worth the effort and kinder to your body and mind to follow this method and to avoid the prolonged shock effects your going through.

i wish you all the best for a drug free life, be kind to yourself xxx
