I just want to let you know that last year I wanted to lose some weight for a wedding, I went on a strict diet bearing in mind my issues and not a fad diet, I just ate no junk and tried to up my fruit and veg, i just stuck to it consistently for a good couple of months, i started to feel better in other way as well as loosing a few pounds. Wedding came and went, christmas appeared, i ate badly, after a week or so of eating badly i felt horrendous again, got back on the wagon and since then i have eaten healthiy and fallen of the wagon several times.
After this last fall i feel secure enough to share that each time I start eating badly the pain creeps in again, i didnt want to say it before incase it was other factors but i feel food is definitely the thing making the difference.
My pain and fatigue are not 100% eradicated. When im eating well i dont notice it as much as when i eat bad again, then i feel like a truck has run me over. It doesnt happen as soon as i eat bad, it takes a week or so of eating bad to hit me but its vastly noticable when it does.
I dont eat breakfast which your are supposed to but it makes me feel ill but I always have 1 egg on 1 slice of seeded toast for lunch, for dinner i have whatever we muster up, roast chicken, spag bol, chilli con carne etc so my diet is not restrictive, im looking at nutrient rich food rather than worrying about my fat, calorie, carb intake. I snack on almonds and fruit and i think one of the more important factors is trying not to overeat.
Ive tried various diets on the past like gluten free, dairy free and ive never really had any success with the fibro symptoms but this seems to help.
I also quit all meds prior to this healthy eating and i swapped out caffeinated tea for decaf a couple of years back, quitting the meds also really helped i think.
My diet isnt perfect, i still have sugar in my tea and i eat badly at least once a month for a few days during PMS, the thing is as long as i stop myself after those few days and get back to eating well the pain doesnt increase to unbearable again.
I dont understand why food makes such a difference as when I was well before fibro i used to eat junk most of the time and it didnt affect me.
Now this isnt a magic cure, i still have some bad pain days and i dont think ill ever be normal again but this has what worked for me the most and i wanted to share as although we all know diet impacts our health i didnt know it could have a dramatic affect on pain in a disease which it said to be non inflammatory.
The best thing is im not eating any weird expensive foods, my food doesnt look or taste like grass, a simple cheap easy to prepare egg on toast and some fruit cut up in the fridge and almonds in the cupboard for when i need to snack or have a sweet tooth of an evening.
I really hope this helps someone as ive always overlooked what impact eating well for a good few months solid could have on my pain. When ur in pain and fatigued you crave bad food, even now on a bad day all i want to eat is quick easy junk food.

They say you could live off eggs and orange juice due to the nutrient contents so I don't know if the egg at lunch and fruit to snack on has made the difference by boosting all the levels in my body or if it's the anti inflammatory effects of not eating junk. Calcium, magnesium and potassium if you don't get enough can also cause muscle cramps and spasms so again not sure if this has something to do with it.
I do hope this helps someone as although not perfect it really has been the only thing that's made a difference for me.
