Hoping I am the only one

48 yr old female ~ Suffered with the chicken pox as a youngster. Unfortunately the worst area was my genitals. I had PHN in my genitals until I reached middle school. Back then no one knew what it was. At the age of 40 I had shingles on the left side of my body, chest and torso mostly. I have been agonized with needle, pricking, lightning hot, relentless pain once again in my genitals. Can't get dressed, exercise, walk, sit, wipe, shower, sex... There is nothing to see, no odor, no redness, no ulcers, no swelling, nothing. I do not have genital herpes (thank God). Chronic pain led to depression. Can't work. Look well, have invisible disease. Prayers for all of you sufferers. I understand

I feel so sorry for you. I have suffered with PHnN for nearly 2 years constantly round the torso and thought mine was bad but yours is clearly worse. I am having nerve block injections tomorrow in an effort to kill the burning pain. Good luck Liri x

Best wishes with the injections. I imagine it is difficult for you to be dressed. So odd this pain is that to the firm touch it doesn't hurt as badly as clothing rubbing or just a brush of the skin. Thanks for the reply I've never spoken to anyone with PHN

You are quite right that clothes rubbing is far worse but your problems have put mine into perspective and I really do feel for you. Just off to the hospital now for the operation and I do appreciate your wishes. I sincerely wish you well for the future Ian

So sorry to hear of your PHN. I have had it for 3 years in my left side and very intermiten yet always there. As mine is nowhere nearly as bad as yours and many other sufferres it makes me realize what I am complaining about. At the moment I am trying to reduce my medication, (gabapentin) gradually I feel I am at the same leval of pain as when I was on 1800mg a day. Trying to get off the tablets if possible. Whilst it's no consolation to you. I can only pray for you.   .

Thank you immensly for the prayers you've lifted for me. Gabapentin has been great for easing my pain although large doses make my eyes blurry. I sincerely hope your pain diminishes and you can get completely off medications. What a tragedy you have to live with this as well. I undersand. I will keep you in my prayers also.
