Hormonal hair!

Hi all,

I know I've posted about this before but I can't remember what everyone said and need more advice... again 😕 (head fog/confusion bla- bla-bla!)

I've had my hair coloured for year as I went grey in my 20's... over the last few years or so, when i have it coloured, my scalp itches for days afterwards and is really irritated. Also my hair is quite thin due to hormonal changes.

Now, I know many will say 'just go grey naturally' but I can't bring myself to yet as I just want to have colour a little longer! I only colour the roots every 3 months... it's a permanent colour.

So I've been researching (yes again!) and looked at Wella Innosense (someone on here recommended that) and NaturVital... these are PPD free or something..

Has anyone else tried these brands with success or any other sensitive permanent dyes.

I'm taking evening primrose for hair loss but possibly need to take biotin too?

Thank youuuuuuuuu!!

AJ. x

    hi AJ,

i'm the one that uses wella innosense. I like the color very much. it does not bother my scalp at all. because I prefer to keep the chemicals to a minimum that touch my skin, I have my hairdresser use foils for my color. a little always gets on my skin but no reaction.

I wish I had a solution for thinning hair. mine has thinned quite a bit especially on my right side.

Hi there! How strange as mine has thinned more on my right side too. I've just stopped HRT as I didn't think it was working but i think it may have been helping hair loss as I'm starting to lose more again. 😦

Thanks for your advice again, can i just ask, did you get reactions from previous colours used like me?

    Hi AJ

Do try a hair color that is without ammonia. In Sweden (and Germany) we get a brand called Olia (by Garnier). I have found that it is really gentle on the scalp and yes, its permanent.

I too started going grey in my late 20's, early 30's and am not yet ready to go silver.

Hang in there and do check brands that are either based on vegetable / natural dyes or ammonia free.

    All the best!

Thank you I will... and I wonder if Garnier do that over here in the UK, I'll check it out.

I have had grey hair since i was 5 yrs old but at age 43 I use a rinse to color my greys because it lasts longer then dyes. I take vitamin D daily to help with my used to be thinning hair

Have you tried boots chemical free range? Also apple cider vinegar diluted in water is great for itchy flaky scalp.

No, not seen anything about Boots range... will check it out.

      Thank you. x
