Hello all.Quick question,i have been on HRT for about 6 months now after i had a Total Abdominal Hysterectomy earlier this year.My question is,Did you have your Hormone levels checked after commencing the HRT?The reason i ask,is that lately i am quite stressed, tearful and aggressive(road rage)and i wondered if it could be my dose of meds is not right. Thanks in advance.

    What dosage are you on.

My symptoms started sraight away in the hospital, i started sweating, soaking wet, like a blooming waterfall, as fast as nurses changed my nightie and sheets they were soaking wet again.

Ended up in a puddle of sweat with drip drip drip onto the floor, then they lost my veins for fluid drips, multiple times, I believe i got to the stage of being dangerously de-hydrated.

They hit me with about 1200mg of HRT, after some blood tests, that stopped the sweating. But they also told me I must start stepping down from that level, so every three months with the help of my GP we found a lessor dosage with very little side effects thank goodness two years later no HRT.

Hi, it could be that they're out of whack.  I suggest that you contact your doctor for an appointment.  Hormones are very powerful substances, and do affect your physiology and behavior.

Best of luck to you and let me know how you do!

Lou lou - A print out is really going to help you with the sweating and not sleeping, idiot Dr, another one.

Have you figured out yet what seems to make your sweating worse, being upset, in a warm room, walking for some distance and warming yourself up.

Is you nightie soaked, take to the Dr with you next time, keep it in a plastic bag and dump it on the Dr's desk out of the plastic bag, and ask him if he thinks thats normal, and or tigger a hot flush just before you go into the Dr's surgery, don't be embrassed, the Dr should be the one to be embrassed for not treating you earlier, this is payback time, and also teaching him something for the next patient.

I and my husband have been very badly treated or closer to the truth not treated, so now I don't mince words with Dr's, I go in armed to the teeth with fellow Dr's reports off the internet, Dr to Dr papers, and dare them to contradict fellow specialists in the field, husbands heart failure, mine ortheo arthirits and RA, I have also read these papers until I understand them, I believe my last run in with Jnr heart specialist the consultant agreed with me, congratulated me and told the jnr's in front of us he needed to talk to them in his office immediately, then turned to me and said you have saved your husbands life again, how many times now, I replied 4 times, he smiled at me and said looking at the jnr's you could learn something from her, he knows starting from zero I have educated myself on heart failure.

Hi. I also had hysterectomy in April and put onto patches at 5 days post op. I have been absolutely fine but returned to work in sept (work in school) and lately have become very emotional at slightest thing and did wonder if it was hormone related. I've never had levels checked but I'm seeing consultant again on 11th Nov so I may ask him about it. ALso getting headaches again which I had a lot of before op.

hello thats like me in getting lots of headaches as well, just dont lnow what to do about hrt though, and im scared incase i start getting the dryness as well

I've had no problem with dryness but surgeon said if that happened there is an hrt pessary they can prescribe instead of patch or tablet. What way do you take it at mo? Mine is a weekly patch and so far has worked well. No flushes etc. Just the weepyness and headaches but not sure if that just coz I'm back at work. Lol.

hello again, im not on hrt yet, as i dont know what to do , like i said im having sweats headaches , and not sleeping , my doc is no good not even spoke to me about going on it he just gave me a leaflet , im going to see the lady doctor cause he was no good, im just worried about getting the dryness when i eventualy have sex, do you know if all women get dryness on hrt and if they dont go on hrt

Well I can say I don't suffer from dryness thankfully. I suppose everyone is different. My consultant talked to me about hrt before I had my op. He said I'd need to start on it straight away but I wasn't unsure so unsure I went away and asked friend/family advice of their experiences and read up on net and when I went back I asked various questions so wasn't prepared before I had op. It sounds like you've had no info given before or after which is not good. It's a massive change to a woman's body and to have no input is poor. Hope you get some better advice from the lady dr. X

Hi. i waited a long time before having sex. About 3 mths but I'd also had anterior and posterior repairs and a tvt so had an awful lot of repairing to do. But it's whenever you feel ready to do it. When we did it we just took it really slow. They suggested using lots of lube for first time too but we managed without. I have just turned 46 too. My hubby was very patient and never made me feel pressurised to have sex. In fact he was just as scared as me.

thank you for that, i think my hubby is just as scared as me , will take everything you have said on bored , and if need any questions answering ill contact you again, youve been a big help , better than going to docs waste of time him, just wait now to go and see her now , thank you again

Any time. There are lots of ladies on here that have great advice for one thing or another. What works for one doesn't always work for another but it's a good guide as a starting point. It's helped me hugely after my op. Now all I can do if offer my experience. I'm no expert but I've been through ops that many can identify with. Good luck with your recovery.

      Fiona.
