Hormone Replacement Therapy - Pellets

Posted , 10 users are following.

I recently had testosterone and estrogen pellets put in as well as an oral progesterone pill. Just wanting to get positive and/or negative feedback on this type of HRT. It's only been 3 days and I'm experiencing a lot of body/muscle aches and not sure if it's related or not. I feel like I've working out or hit by a truck!! Anyone experience this? Perhaps it's just my body adjusting. Help! Any insight on your personal experience would be helpful!!

Thank you smile

Hello all! It's been a while since I've posted anything - I am still trying to get these dang hormones balanced.  I went for my 30 day labs (September) and my levels were decent, my testosterone was really high, yet I felt no different in regards to my libido - nothing at all.  Well, my boobs started to get tender so I thought maybe the pellets were wearing off so I went in for my labs just a couple weeks ago and my testosterone is back down along with my progesterone, however my estrogen was higher than it was at my 30 day post-pellet labs....my doctor seemed a bit perplexed.  She said it's normally at it's peak at the 30 day mark and then gradually goes down.  Has anyone experienced this? It explains the tenderness in my breasts but not sure why the estrogen went up instead of down.  She prescribed some meds for me to take just twice a week to counteract the effects of high estrogen but now I have to go back in 30 days for labs again before she schedules my next round of pellets.

    Thoughts? Advice?

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and have a Happy New Year!!cool

Do you take progesterone next to the pellet? And did you have a bleed  after the September blood test? Like shortly after or within 3 weeks?

If you take progesterone and then obviously progesterone levels are related to the dose of what you taking up to a certain level. To me it looks like your ovaries have kicked in again as the ovaries make progesterone obviously. And progesterone is the first hormone that goes out the window , estrogen decreases after . So a possible explanation is that they kicked in again produced the progesterone and also the testosterone as you would've been near a period when you took the bloods. Then after at the next bloodtest those two hormones dropped as they do if you not in the second half of the cycle. But your estrogen risen , which also could be caused by the ovaries.  (Implant and ovaries both added together more estrogen).

May I ask what meds she's given you to counteract the estrogen? As I do have way to high levels of estrogen with this second implant so looking at ways to get it down. smile

Hi! I had a hysterectomy when I was 29, still have my ovaries but no periods. I was prescribed progesterone along with my pellets but to be honest I stopped taking them as they were causing me some mild side effects. My doctor recommended that I start taking them again so I’m giving them another shot. The medication she prescribed to counteract the excess estrogen symptoms is called anastrozole. I only take this twice a week and started it Friday.
