i have been inserting a vaginal hormone suppository for 3 weeks due to atrophy. I broke out in hives a few days ago. Saw a doctor and was prescribed prednisone and told me to take Zyrtec and BENADRYL at bedtime. Hives disappeared for several hours yesterday. i did not take BENADRYL at bedtime since i was hive free. When I woke up, hives returned in abdomen. Has anyone had the hives due to estrogen replacement?

I am assuming you have been diagnosed with Atrophic Vaginitis? Are you using VAGIFEM ? or YUVAFEM ? This is interesting as i too have Atrophic Vaginitis and unfortunately have Chronic Urticaria ( hives ) also....so i started to wonder if the VAGIFEM inserted vaginally could be the cause of hives but i broke out in the hives before i started using vagifem. its the only th
ing that help me feel normal with the ATROPHIC vaginitis. Please keep me posted. i wish you well!

Yes, I was diagnosed with atrophic vaginitis 2 years ago. I tried the MONA LISA TOUCH laser therapy twice and it only madr things worse. My Dr. prescribed INTRAROSA a vaginal hormone suppoistory. I am taking it for 3 weeks. I am starting to think that this suppository is causing the hive breakout. I see my GYN tomorrow and discuss this with her. Thanks for your reply. Hope you feel better soon. i will let you know what my Dr. says.

Ask your doctor about VAGIFEM. Its the only thing that makes me feel normal and have quality of life. I have no side effects. I have heard that MONA LISA has mixed reviews....and some ladies still need vagifem with the treatments. let me know what your doctor says tomorrow. i wish you well and hope you dont have anymore hive breakouts. Have you had any stress lately as sometimes that could be a cause for hives.

I truly do not have stress in my life. I am blessed with a great family and friends. My health issues are stressful though. I will ask my Dr. about VAGIFEM tomorrow. Thanks for your advice.
