Hey Melissa, I am 42 and the weird muscle twitching and popping started for me over a year ago after I had my first panic attack. please, please don't Google anything anymore! it's hormones or anxiety or a combo of both. please just try your hardest to just ignore it. the more I ignore, the less it happens. i actually don't know if it will ever go away but oh well! I'm just going to do my best to ignore it. i had extreme health anxiety when all this hit me last year but I've learned to stay away from Google and just enjoy every good day! good luck!! i hope you get some comfort on this forum!

Hi Melissa, my hell began at 40 also. I always heard that 40 was the new 30. I am now 41 feel like a corpse.

I sometimes get a twitch or a jerk while I am almost asleep...like having a dream that you are falling. I assume it is my nervous system in overdrive. Maybe our lives begin at 50 樂

    Hi Mellisa,

Sorry to know your suffer. I had the same experience last year. My one was inside my body, the twitch lasted for one month. It was very bad. And then I had firework like inside my body and so on. That must be related to hormone.

yes, yes, yes!! Mine is predominantly my right side, but it makes me crazy. And of course, nothing turns up on bloodwork or doctor visits I personally think ignoring and exercising work best with this whole mess! Hang in there!!

I've had the muscle twitching for 22 years but its gotten much worse in menopause (I'm 56 now). I too suffer from severe anxiety and have been told the twitching is the anxiety. i also just recently started getting this weird tingling down the back of my body starting from my mid back and arms all the way down the back of my legs. Feels creepy. Any of you get this too?

im on my period now and is worse but then my anxiety is always worse around this time too !! , i either get specific muscles twitch or random / pop once its all over and feel like lots of tiny electric pulses in my body ! it weird and i too sometimes get tingling !

mines exactly the same , ive been to Gp twice and she said muscle

twitching alone is not an indiction of ALS and that its anxiety and they if she tried to refer me they wouldnt see me just in twicthing alone as alot of people

get it ! mine is daily all over body which apparently another good sign but still doesnt stop the health anxiety worrier from relaxing !!! x

    Hi Melissa,

Oh yes, that is me. I have posted about it before, as have lots of other women.

My twitching has been going 2 to 3 months now and I morbidly think I have the dreaded ALS/Motor Neurone or MS.

I mean twitching in the feet , calf muscles, buttocks, arms , abdomen and even my neck on two occassions. Add tingling, muscle pain, burning, dry eyes, dry mouth, breast pain, headaches, restless legs and never ending insomnia combined with sky rocketing anxiety.

I've every test my GP can think of, reluctantly he gave me a referral to a Neurologist to get tested to (Please god!!...) rule out the worst neuro diseases. ( he thinks a lot of it is anxiety combined with menopause)

As yet, despite all my talk, I still haven't mustered the courage to do it. I may as well, I'm living my life like I have got it. The most I've done is cut caffeine down and starting to tweak my poor eating habits brought on by stress.

Menopause just SUCKS. If I get brave enough, I'll visit the neuro and post results. I feel quite fragile atm to be honest.

It really does give me comfort though, reading of other people's similar experiences, hang in there.
