hormones going haywire

I am 50 years old.For past 8 years I had weird feeling.In between it got over but then it started again.i sweat profusely.My heart is racing.I am always stressed.I get irritated over small thing.My weight has increased.I was diagonised with hypothyroid.my memory has been effected also.I feel depressed without any reason.i went to the doctor and she gave me multivitamins and i also take medicine for hypthyroid.she said it is also menopausal phase.My periods have become irregular.I am so tired of my symptoms.They come and go.I hope  the symptoms which i discussed are related to  menopause.The mood swing and depression are the worst part. Help me ladies

    Hi Swaran. Welcome to our group - lots of support, info, advice on here with all our lovely ladies. First step I think you would benefit from is see if your gp surgery have a specialist menopause/well woman doctor or nurse - many of them do nowadays. You can talk to them about you symptoms & possible options like hrt & weight it all up for yourself before deciding if you want to try hrt. If you do, you need to try it for at least 3mths to see if it suits you, & if the first hrt regimen doesn't help, there are other combinations they can try. The other option is a low dose anti depressant called fluoxetine which many ladies on here have found helps soften peri/meno symptoms (particularly that anti depressant). I also have an old workmate in her 50's who takes it & says it really helps her meno symptoms. Hope this helps hun. You're not alone. xxx

    Thanks everyone for giving positive feed back.I am really motivated.I am planning to change my doc and go for second opinion.This age is such a critical age where you are taking care of your family and fighting with your hormones as well.I switched on to green tea because it calms the nerve .Trying to change my eating habits also.Oh my god I have to change my lifestyle and live the one which will make my hormones happy.Thats really a big change
