Horrible anxiety after starting Sertraline 50mg

Hello, the dr. prescribe me 50mg of Sertraline which I am taking every evening. I am only going through the day 4 and I know everyone will say to keep going, but the anxiety I feel and the depressive thoughts are much much worse than before Sertraline. I am barely coping not to show off at work, my teeth are grinding all the time. It makes me look like I am not moving my face when talking. Apart from that, I had nausea on the day 1 which has stopped on the day 2. I have been waking up 10 times a night, which has subsided to once a night now and makes me feel like I am ready to wake up. My hands are trembling, but less than on the first day, so makes me think that will subside. Strange sensation when yawning, and overall lack of control. Please anyone advise is this hyper anxiety "normal"? How did you go through that ?

Hi Maria i do not want to upset you or offend or other people who are giving you advice , because that is all i am doing, i am no professional but i talk from experience, over 40yrs, you see i have so many illnesses i could write a book! , starting fom the age of 14 , i am now 54, i have depression, anxiety, panic attacks, severe migraines, ibs, ocd, bdd, dpd, eating disorder, and in remission from brain tumour, so i think i know a bit about drugs, and doctors and how you might feel on them, as you read other people advice on this drug they tell you how brilliant they are doing and you have to hang in there , well there are not wrong for them , and that is because it works for them but sorry to tell you it does not always work for everyone, reason being we are all individuals, what works for one does not always work for others as it did not for me, i was put on one antidepressant, did not work my doctor put me on this drug, 50mg to start after 4/5 weeks no change up it to 100mg, my god i felt terrible after a week i was dizzy , nausea, and could not do a thing, so it told me to back down to 50mg, still nothing more depressed then normal so i decided to come of them, and because i am a massive believer in natural healing i went down that root, calming medicines, herbal teas, talking therapies, counselling, and i am glad to say its fantastic, i have had first counselling session yesterday brilliant, i have homework eek, only joking, and i feel really positive, but what i am trying to say what works for joe is great and helps him , what works for me helps me, but what you need to understand is the antidepressants are only a stop gap and once you come off them you can be ok but some people who are not stronger enough go back where they started, but on the good side a friend of mine is on a low dose and is on them for life she is 89, bless her and she lives a healthy and happy life, so sorry this is a very long email, but you do what is best and works for you, try these if they work great, if not go another root, good health and happiness to all on this forum X cheesygrin
