I can't handle it anymore. I'm 17, I suspect something very wrong with my hormones and I don't know who to go to to help me. What is your diet like? As Laura says have you had blood tests including vit B12?

Without knowing whom you have seen or what they told you, I would have to say that you should see a neurologist.

    Hi Alana,

Sounds like you're really struggling right now with all these difficult symptoms. Have you seen a doctor yet, and have they carried out any blood tests yet? Also, did you have a trigger to your symptoms? I know It's hard but, try not to feel too stressed by all this as it can make things worse. If you've not seen a doctor yet, do this as soon as you can. Write Down all the symptoms before you go and take someone with you.

    Best wishes

    Hi Alana,

I am sorry to hear about your health problems, and that you are not getting any help.

The symptoms you describe are very similar to what I have been struggling with for years. I am much older than you, but I have had these symptoms for quite a long time, and my doctors, like yours, have just looked at me as if I had two heads when I described them. Fortunately, we have a new, younger doctor, who has just joined the practise and he is sending me to a hormone specialist. He thinks it could be carcinoid syndrome, which does include a lot of what we both suffer from. My doctor told me not to worry, as it may not be that, but at least I am going to get checked out. I have had this for years, and that would not be possible if it was carcinoid syndrome. Unless I am a very rare case.

I have been waiting for this appointment for three months!!! I see the specialist on 20th of this month, so a long, worrying wait.

My breathlessness, sweating and the dithering are the worst dibilitating issues I have. And sometimes in winter when everyone else is wearing padded coats and boots, I get weird looks when wearing a summer clothes, no socks, sandals with a bright red sweaty face. My poor husband is fed up of me wanting the heating off in both the house and car in winter. Then, there are times when I also get cold chills, but they are not as often. I very rarely leave the house these days, as just walking a few yards takes every ounce of my strength and I feel that I just can't go any further without collapsing. I have fallen several times.

Please, insist that you get your symptoms investingated, Alana. You are very young to be suffering like you are.

Also, please keep in touch, and let me know how you are, and if you get the help you really do need.

    Sending hugs,

    Sasha.

well short of having blood tests and hormone work-up they really can't not look into your symptoms though most of them sound more like psychosomatic reactions than an actual disease, especially at your age. Though you don't mention how long ago this had started, if you can think of anything that triggered it off if you had any changes in sleep patterns, if you have recently been ill, taken any medication, supplement or recreational drug and whether you consume alcohol etc etc. All this needs to be reported to your doctor. When you say hypoglycemia, is this confirmed or just what you assume it is (feeling light-headed, feel sugar/starch cravings etc)? You would need FBC, thyroid check, trace minerals and if all else is clear perhaps basic hormone level screens though these are usually not required. Other tests may be needed if this has been going on for more than two a week or two. Not sure why doctors would not help you. They can only write you off if they have done at least basic tests - have they? I hope you get to the bottom of it but honestly does sound more like anxiety than something else. I would start with GP and if needed based on test results endocrinologist or counsellor. All the best.

If I don't eat for a few hours, maybe 3 my blood sugar drops to 70 which I know is still normal but I feel symptoms. I can't eat sugar or carbs without getting these symptoms as well. I added more information in my reply below!

Hi guys thanks so much for replying, I have some more information, I've had numerous blood tests done my b12 and D are low, cant take d as it makes me sick and so does b12 so my doctor sent me to a gastro to see why my stomach ia so sensitive. My thyroid is borderline hypo but no one is even focusing on that, my cortisal was a 1 and then normal so they stopped checking into that which I'm upset about, and my ANA is elevated to a 1/1280. My doctors arnt paying attention to my weird labs and just say oh we will keep an eye on it, meanwhile I'm bedridden.

Hi Alana. They are not focusing on them as they have not seen anything that stands out.  Except i wonder if you have had recent changes to your diet? And your blood tests do not show any anemia? How low was your vitamin D? And how long have you tried taking it? All the things you mention can stem from vitamin D deficiency easily. How is your sleep by the way?
