Horrible Zoloft side effects

Posted , 7 users are following.

Hi I’ve been taking 25 mg of Zoloft for 6 days now to treat general anxiety and insomnia issues.  The first 4 days or so we’re fine but day 5 I started having horrible anxiety and had a full blown freak out episode so bad I went to the ER of course they found nothing wrong (been through that before).  Now I feel dizzy, nervous, cold sweats, insomnia, and just overall general fatigue.  When does this get better?  I really just want to stop taking this s**t in all honesty I’ve never had anxiety this bad in my life.

    Dear Randy.

Hang in there - you’re almost past the horrible initial side effects which (ironically enough!) means bad, increased anxiety.

Please go to Facebook and find the Positive Zoloft group. Here you’ll get a lot of support.

But for now: it’ll pass soon! Don’t give up.

Hi my doc told me upto 4 wks  and yes it turned my anxiety off but...... 6 months of suffering the side effect without going into the horrific withdrawal symptoms, which the docs can do nothing about, once Id had enough.

Yes the beginning few weeks are horrible. You r on a very low dose but the side effects makes it feel like it is much higher. This med is slow acting, can take up to 6 to 8 weeks. But everyone is different. 🐾

The beginning few weeks in sertraline are bad for everyone, we all go through the bad side effects that your going through, good news is they generally only last a few weeks and then they will start to subside. Also the tablets take at least 6-8 weeks to start working properly. Good luck and God bless

It took up to three months but I am sleeping and eating better and my mood has improved.  I take a high dose (200 mg) for OCD.

I appreciate everyone’s responses and reassurance.  Knowing that there is a brighter outlook helps but I wish I could figure out a way to deal with it now it’s absolute torture.

Get some Xanax or clonazapam for the increased anxiety. I couldn’t have done without it. Insomnia: Get some Phernergan. It’s an old antihistamine and it will make you sleep. Relax. If you need to stay under your duvet, do. Drink as much water as you can - and perhaps some coke with drops of ginger in it.

      And join the FB group.

Thank you I did get lorazepam prescribed to me but I’m reluctant to take it because of the addictive aspect of it.  I’ll give it a shot today.

Hi. I couldn’t have gotten through the first few weeks without Valium. If you have a good doctor ask for some. I just take it when I am in full blown panic and it’s a lifesaver. It’s tough going as we all know but gotta keep going. Life should be better than what we’ve had. Stay strong. I’m just starting my 6th week on 100mg and feeling positive ❤️
