Horrizontal or vertical incision?

Hi i've noticed that some ladies have had horizontal incisions while others have had vertical ones, is there any medical difference? Does it heal quicker one way as opposed to the other? I am going to be having a horizontal TAH, I know this already as I have previously had a C Section and my consultant has said he will use the same scar line. Thanks for any help x

I don't have a choice either Dee I'm just being curious and wondering if it's to do with what you have to have removed or the size of fibriods etc x

Hi I had a vertical TAH as I had to have a 16kg mass removed (non malignant) due to the size I had a vertical scar with 100 clips, I think it's all down to how big the removal is as I did have a c section scar.

Hi Luckymum, I had to be cut from above my Belly button down to below my Bikini line as the Surgeons needed better room due to the Mass a cysts, & the Endometriosis being Stuck to Everything in there. I had 38 staples, that was 1yr & 5 days ago. So it must be what ever is wrong with you helps decide what way you be opened. Big Hugs..Xx
