Hospital bag?

i was wondering if any of you lovely ladies have a list of things needed in your hospital bag or if there were any things you brought but didn't need? I'm going in next Thursday and getting ready and very nervous.

2 Nighties, LARGE knickers lol, dressing gown, slippers usual sponge bag etc, nice smellies (takes away antiseptic smells) plenty to read, if you use reading glasses don't forget those (I almost did), bottle of juice, if you don't like plain water, they like you to drink plenty. change of clothes for when you go home, a pillow from home (Helped me sleep) a bit of money for newspapers (bribe the guards to let you out.....just kidding), I'm sure I have forgotten something, I bought things like tablets for wind pain that I didn't need but they would be handy to have.

That's great, I never thought of a pillow, will add that to my list! Thank you.

The pillow also helps to protect your tummy on the drive home, roads in UK are horrendous and pot holey!

The first week is hard, but you can do it. Just rest a lot. You might need a mild laxative as the pain meds are constipating.

Take something to occupy you as you wait. Peppermints help the wind issues. Lips get dry so lip balm good. I wore clothes there that were stretchy and put same ones on to go back as you are only in them until you arrive. I was put into gown straight away. You don't get a huge amount of room so travel as light as possible. It depends on your stay time which will be longer with vertical cut. I was home next morning as done by laparoscopy so didn't have to take too much. Big knickers a must though lol

Box of baby wipes or the like, her in Aust they are sometimes called wetones. Get some nice hypo-allergenic moisturizing ones.

Ii went to the chemist, and got some nice quality wipes, not cheap, but they were the right ones for me.

Used for face, under breasts, then when I developed a reaction to meds, sweating alot, helped with drying skin and lips, getting off any betadine residue.

I am sensitive to Betadine, and was covered in it after surgery, nurse said to me, nowhere near the cut, but elsewhere was very soothing, when you can't have a bath or shower when all you want to do is get in and have a good soak.
