Hospital waiting list

Hi,

I am waiting to have spinal surgery, I've been on the list now for 7 weeks & I haven't had an appointment come through yet. I was just wondering what experience has anyone had with regards to waiting for surgery & what system hospitals use in order to get patients seen.......

    Hello Tasha, I waited from October last year and finally had my operation last week! I only got my appointment 2 weeks before! You may get it done privately free of charge....I did! Good luck! X

      Hi Nicola,

      Wow you were waiting for 6 months, that must have been a nightmare! Good that you got it done privately, did you keep ringing them or did you just wait?

      I rang them in December and nothing for a while and then I kept emailing them and they kept passing me to diffdifferent people and then I got the email saying that I was having it done at a private hospital! smile

      Right I'm going to nag them then, hopefully I'll be done & dusted by next week lol!!! How are you feeling, what surgery did you have?

      Ouch, bet you're glad it's all done now. I'm having decompression & fusion on my lower back due to spongylolithesis........

      I know lol although the leg pain is Back so I am not so sure at the moment so we will see lol! Good luck

    Hi Tasha I'm also waiting for a spinal fusion ( 2 levels) due to two disc bulges irritating nerves and causing permanent sciatic pain down my left leg. Although I was told I needed the op last October 2014, I was finally actually put on the waiting list for surgery on the 27th January. I had my pre op on the 26th February ( ready for an op within 3 months) and was told it would be around April. Now my surgeon has gone sick and although I have been waiting 12 weeks, will not be having the op until August/September. I have written/emailed and phoned continually but there is no locum and I have to wait. When I was put on the list needing a single level fusion, but now it's two and I'm developing spondylitis. Also there are urgent patients and routine patients. An urgent patient where I am finally had their op after 32 weeks. Hope you hear something soon.

      I live in Bournemouth, but I go to Salisbury hospital as there is no specialist spinal services down here. Where are you?

      I live in Berkshire, my nearest hospital is Frimley Park. I really hope you get your op soon, you've been waiting a long time....good luck
