Hot flashes in the middle of day causes blood pressure to rise

Posted , 4 users are following.

I get so nervous when I have a hot flash episode in the middle of the day and blood pressure sky rockets. Sometimes I'll just be taking a nap and feel so flush...head hurts and I feel miserable. I try to breath through it and find something cold but it takes a while for my BP to go down.

Anyone experiencing this.

Yes, I get this too and can get shaky feeling as well.  I am on blood pressure medication already for several years.  It also takes me a few hours for my blood pressure to fall back to normal.  I try not to check it for a few hours after I have a spell .... otherwise it will stay high from nervousness!  Nothing rises faster than a watched blood pressure sad

I get this too! I get hot and shaky and my head feels tight. Sometimes I feel a bit nauseated as well. It seems likes most days I start feeling anxious and internally shaky around 5 or 6 pm and my head feels tight. I know if I take my blood pressure it will be up so I don't check it. I also take meds for high blood pressure.

Thank you for your responses! I was so nervous.

I need to stop taking my BP when I have these episodes because your right I'll just get stressed out about it. Sometimes the episodes last all day. I've found a cold shower helps bring it down..and deep breathing helps too.

    Ugh!

sometimes i get brain shakes too

how do you differentiate between blood pressure and brain shake ? and coupled with sinus problems. im also on blood pressure meds for a long time. im scared to measure my bp.

how do you know its high ? what are the symptoms ?

I'm not sure what brain shakes are? I've never experienced them. I get the hot flashes, then migraines that my BP gets high. Sometimes I feel like my head is going to explode. I only get them before, during and after my periods. So I'm miserable for like 7 days.

I went to the ER when things first happened and the CT showed nothing and they sent me home with a diagnosis of vertigo.  I wish these would stop! I can't take it!!
