Hot Flushes

I'm relatively new to everything so can somebody please explain hot flushes to me.

I'm perimenopausal but seem to get whole body hot flushes. Are these hot flushes or am I simply hot?

Thanks

Hiya I had hot flashes for almost 18 mos. They were just aweful! They were especially horrid during the night! Wake up out of a deep sleep drenched in sweat...ceiling fan whirling on  high with no relief! Then finally you are back to "normal" and NOW your are shivering and find relief bundled up under the sheets! Hot flashes happen when the blood vessels near the skin's surface dilate to cool, making you break out in a sweat. Some women have a rapid heart rate or chills. That was the last straw for me. I looked into BIo-identical hormone therapy. I am 3 weeks into the therapy and not one hot flash!! Amongst many other symptoms gone...body aches, fuzzy head, sad, crying jags, fatigue.....! I could not be more happy! I am just happy to be some what normal again! Hopefully I continue in this positive path!

Ok thanks, yes I was all shivery and wrapped up under my duvet afterwards. I wasn't drenched in sweat but just kept feeling waves of heat come over me for about 3 or 4 mins at a time.

I'm glad you've found relief. I'm only just starting down this path so figuring out what's a symptom slowly.

I'm in my 6th year of hot flashes. They do get better. 2 years into menopause now.

So you got the hot flushes for about 4 yrs as perimenopause?? I just wasn't sure if they were only once you'd started full menopause but obviously not.

      Thanks for your help

Oh yes!  And my first year into menopause it was 3 or 4 times a day for almost the whole year. This 2 nd year they have gotten better though. If I up my veggies and fruits I notice they're not as bad for some reason. Keep ice water on you at all times😉

Hi...I'm new to all this also..and can be quite daunting.

Started getting proper hot flushes recently where I can feel a heat go through whole body and ends with my face and neck turning red! Also get bad vertigo simultaneously and fast heart beat.

First noticed this last year when out and driving my car! That scared me as they make me feel a bit wobbly and lightheaded. Not great whilst driving.

    Hope this helps.

Let me know how you go.
