how can i be diagnosed for social anxiety?

basically, i think i have social anxiety. i dont know, cause i dont know how to get tested for it. i hate going to social events, i always make up some excuse to not go to one even if i am free to go as i get so scared that i am gonna make a fool of myself or that something will go wrong. i hate preforming in any way, if i am asked to preform and presantaion or asked to answer a question in class i freak out or stubble and find it hard to answer even if i know what it is. i dont get any pains or aches like chest pain or head aches ect, but i dont tend to feel really sick and nervous and start shakeing sometimes. for example in drama when i have to preform a short sekch. luckily for me i am going into year 9 next year so i wont have to do drama but it is an example of when i get nervous. i also hate going to partys as i feel like something will always go wrong. i donty know whether i have social anxiety and honestly im worried that if i dont it may be something more sirious, can anybody help me out?

It could just be that you are shy, sophie so find these activities hard to conquer.

It really does sound like social anxiety, lucky you that's ALL you have!lol

I have full blown Health anxiety and Generalized Anxiety Disorder plus clinical depression. Oh and they all come with lots of pain, aches and lots of awful feelings.

I think to an extent I also have social anxiety. I always find excuses not to go to a social function especially parties and very formal dinners etc. I think everybody is gonna be looking at me and judging, or that I will embarrass myself. I'm dating someone new and so far I've managed to conveniently not go with her to certain functions. Unfortunately for me her job requires that she's at social functions EVERY week. Not to mention that her birthday is coming up in less than 2weeks and she's a total diva so I know it's gonna be a big bash. Somehow I don't think she'll take too kindly to me ditching her birthday too. Just thinking about it is making me anxious.

Do you have a therapist or a counsellor or someone who is trained to help?

    How old are you?

    Are you a student?

Does your school offer therapy or counselling?

You still very young and social situations for the outgoing are east but you might just need more time to feel comfortable, or you can be an introvert. Many people do not like to be the center of attention. Noone should throw a label on you just yet. This is the time in your life you learn to socialize, if you enjoy it.not everyone does and some are late bloomers and thats okay too. High school is the land of drama and it can be nerve racking but its a great place to learn about yourself and grow as an individual. And if there a lot of illegal usage of drinking and such at these social parties your better off not being there. Are you in a sport or do you interact in an after school activity.

It does sound to me like social anxiety. I used to tremble when I was nervous in school and hate presentations and all of that too, in many ways it got better as i got older, but in some ways its still bad as i too am full of excuses not to go out or do this and that.
