How can I deal with health anxiety and stop stressing myself about my physical health?

Today when I was cleaning my bathtub and after cleaning it to make sure there were none of the chemicals still inside the tub, I'm really worried if I might accidentally had some chemicals on my skin left that absorbed to my skin, even though I make sure to clean after every wash of using the supplies I need, if they got onto my hands, but afterwards when I did take a shower and got out, my feet and legs were itchy and not sure how, when I made sure the supplies I used to clean it went down the drain, it did go away the feeling after a few hours, but then I had stomach pain that lasted for about 5 minutes and I started to get drowsy and I'm worried if I have the symptoms of poisoning and my health anxiety is making me think I'm about to die even though it has been 8 hours and I'm still alive and okay. My friend understood about my concern when I tried to explain it to her and she told me if I was really poisoned I mostly likely would be dead right now or seriously ill, where I can't move at all or do anything. It did relax me down a bit once she told me, but I'm still nervous and wondering if I'm going to be fine. I always feel constantly worried about my health, even though my doctor told me I'm normally healthy, but just need to work on my mental state since he knows I suffer from generalized anxiety disorder. When I feel fatigue, dizzy or have a headache, I get worried on what I could possibly have and google my symptoms online. What can I do to help me overcome health anxiety one day and just learn how to deal with it?

you are not poisoned. If that were the case then just about everybody would be poisoned from cleaning agents. That’s just not what happened. Your other symptoms could be from something else like anxiety and stress.

One thing I learned to stop doing was to overthink these things. You just make yourself scared for no reason. Just get your yearly physical at your doctors and if that’s OK then get on with your life and enjoy it. You might want to think about talking to a counselor about how to manage your anxiety. You can even do it virtually online which is what I do.

go to YouTube and search for some relaxing meditations for anxiety. They really help me a lot. Take care
