Hi I am also having an attack of diverticulitis and for me it's the excruciating pain which is causing me to vomit. I have had some really good advice off people on here and been really helpful.

theres a big difference between the two. acid reflux pain is up higher the pain is at the top of the stomach below the breast bone. acid reflux meds helps quickly. and drinking milk or pepto. also at bed time sleep with head higher than stomach on a couple pillows or raise the head of your bed several cushions available is helpful and no food after 7;00 pm before bedtime.
diverticulitis stomach cramps caused by pouches in the lower intestines colon area and can be managed by diet, its extremely painful so much so can become doubled up in pain. pain is usually located in the lower left side of the abdomen . Constipation nausea are some of the symptoms. i drink warm water when i get an attack helps calm the area .

hope4cure is spot on. Diverticular Disease (DD) pain is usually lower left quadrant, although it can be all over the lower area if there are lots of diverticula. It can come with toiletting problems, cramps, fever and nausea. I also have a hiatus hernia and intermittent gastritis, and get reflux and pain (below and to left of breastbone) for that, but it is in a much higher location. My GP prescribes different medication for each - PPI for the hiatus hernia or antibiotics for the DD. I treat both by diet - fluids only for 48 hours for DD then light low fibre food, or just small bland meals for the reflux.

Thank you for your reply I think it's from the reflux that's giving me pain it's just below the breast bone sometimes right across and sometimes to the right with burning as well as pain
