My anxiety probably feels worse my moods aren't lifting, I'd had a few better days on 50 and now I'm worried.

    Hi Robert

This is my 7th week on Sertraline (first week at 50mg, the rest at 100mg). I think my mood has improved but anxiety has got worse. I am not sure why the doc didn't give me longer at 50mg. I also don't feel like me at times. From today I am dropping back down to 50mg and may come off them altogether. I am going to speak to my doctor about this to check I am doing the right thing.

Hi Andrew, I've arranged a call from my doctor tomorrow a.m., same as you to discuss this, I started to write a diary of how I've been since Friday and will leave a copy for him to read and hopefully come to some conclusion. I started with 1 week 25, 4 weeks on 50, then last Monday upped to 75, I'd had a couple of really good days on my last week on 50, anxiety really got worse but that could have been my job which is really stressing me and I'm leaving. My mood is low due to unhappy at my wife's death 13 months ago, so been a bit depressed.

    Hi Robert,

you are exactly what I did.  I was on 50 for 4 weeks then upped to. 75 .. I was back at the docs at 6 weeks getting more medication cause my anxiety was through the roof but I would say by about 2.5-3 weeks after increas I started having good days/positive thoughts etc and by 8 weeks I felt great , I hope the same happens for you.   I am now 5 months in and still feel fantastic and anxiety free.

Hi Natalie, thanks for replying, that sounds positive, I thought after a week of the upped dose I'd have been over the side effects. What dose are you on now?

75mg will stay on this for a while (year or so) then I'll drop to 50

Hi Natalie, how would you say you were on week 7?

Week 7 still more down than up by 8 weeks I reckon about 80 percent no longer needing help with other meds like oxazepam then by ten weeks I was great ... Sleeping normal most things back to normal if not better

That sounds very positive, I hope I can enjoy similar success.

I just took a 50 tonight, will speak to my doctor tomorrow and see what he thinks, I'm going on holiday abroad to the sun next week and don't want to be like this.

Hi Robert, just wondering whether you've been able to speak to your doctor yet and what you have decided? Dropped to 50 mg from 100mg yesterday and been feeling very down. Taken 75mg today and got an appointment this afternoon.

Hi Andrew, I've spoke to my doctor today, told him I only took a 50 yesterday rather than 75 as the symptoms were hellish, he suggested I might try splitting the tab and taking half at night, I wake every night around 4am, my anxiety seems lots better but I'm still feeling low, hopefully that will improve. I'll give it a go for a few days and see how it is. Your mood may pick up as you get used to the lower dose, I hope so. One thing I do that definitely helps me is going to the gym for an hour, clears my head.
