How couple of tweaks works after having mono focal lens implanted

Posted , 3 users are following.

I am waiting for the cataract eye surgery for the right eye.  left eye was done one and a half years ago, and that time I had full blown cataract on both eyes. I freaked out to do both eyes at one time.

After the lazer cataract surgery on the left eye the clear distance mono focal was implanted. I see distance and middle ground and using glass for reading.

I chooses mono focal because I heard some where cuple of tweaks on top of the mono focal can give the freedom to stay glass free.

I am 66 and  no other eye issues. I waited more than one year to confirm the result of the surgery. I have slight crescent shadow right after surgery, now it doesn't bother me that much. And I have dry eyes and slightly discoloured look on my left eye around the cornea after surgery.

I am a visual artist need to see actual size. Does mini mono vision will  show the actual structure or it shows the object slightly deformed?

Will with clear distance mono focal with cuple of tweaks  help me for 3 level of distance?

How these tweaks were done? Is it invasive? I am afraid with my dry eyes it may bring other complications.

The modal I have in my left eye is ZCB00

Diopter + 23 0D

T: 13 mm

B: 6 mm

Thank you very much

If you have mini monovision with a difference of about 1.0D between the 2 eyes, there should be no distortion in the structure shape which you will be looking at. (this is based on my having monovision with about 2.25 D difference in the 2 eyes over the last 25 years).

Also, with mini monovision with a difference of about 1.0D between the 2 eyes (1 monofocal lens set for the best focus at far distance and the other one at about 40 inches), you should have a good vision at intermediate and far distances, but will need glasses for reading fine print at 16 inches. No amount of monovision using 2 monofocal lenses will provide you the ability to see well at near, intermediate, as well as far distances. You have a choice of picking any two of the three distances, but not all three. (picking near and far fo good vision will need monovision with a difference of about 2.25D between the 2 eyes and may be harder to adjust to).

Thanks for the information. I saw the surgeon once and mesutments were taken used ultra sound Bc of full blown cataract. I was told manager will coordinate the rest. The manager called and gave me the date. She told me mono vision -2 and is planed, and I will not need the glass after surgary. I suggested --1D or just clear distance like the other other eye is enough. She said she will put the note on the file. I feel some imbalance and mental cloudiness past one year, and don't know the cause. It could be thefull mono vision( I can see only with one eye, the other eye has full blown cataract, and can't see any thing). I think I am living with mono vision past one and half year.

I have to decide mini mono vision or clear distance like other eye. I amworried and concernedthe doctors and team will listen to me and follow what I wish.

The manager said if I want tweets that cost extra, and that also set me glass free. I missed to ask her what is tweet on the eye.

You and not the manager should decide whether you will be happier with -1.0 D or with -2.0 D based on the information which you have. She can provide you her suggestion and be willing to discuss it with you. But, THIS SHOULD BE YOUR DECISION. Just putting a note in the file is not good enough. If the surgeon is not willing to go along with what your preference is, then I would recommend another surgeon. You are the one who has to live with this decision and not the manager or the surgeon.

Wow. Great questions. As I read posts on this site, it amazes me how much you guys knew before going into your surgeries. I didn't know an 1/8th of it.

That being said, there are people on here who are more than capable of helping you....it just isn't me. 😜  Good luck to you!
