How deep can internal haemorrhoids be?

Posted , 3 users are following.

I've been trying to treat what I assume is haemorrhoids for months (bleeding, mucus, constantly having to run to the bathroom). I've tried everything I can think of with no success.

I've also tried to examine the inside of my poor old bum with a finger, but I can't feel any lumps or anything that could cause bleeding etc. Can haemorrhoids be much deeper inside so that you can't reach them? Bit confused about it.

I have been referred to the bum doctor at my local hospital but the waiting list is unbelievably long. Initial blood tests do not indicate serious illness.

hi james it sounds to me like you have an internal hemorrhoid. Sits baths help a lot as well as making sure you get at least a gallon of water in a day and at least 20 to 30 g of fiber. Probably more for you since you are male I would definitely see a colon and rectal specialist instead of just a regular doctor. The colon and rectal specialist will advise you on what best to do.

I just am into one week of Hemorrhoidectomy recovery. It is not fun.

Thanks for replying Sharen, and for your advice. Will try to increase my water intake. In the meantime, I suppose I'll just have to be patient and wait for an appointment at the hospital. Hope your treatment turns out to be effective. ATB, James.

when i went yo gp she said she could not feel internal hems (their examination is very mild).

when i saw specialist they located several grade 3 internal hems so in answer to your question - yes deeper.

Thanks Faye, that would tally with my gp appointment. It's strange though because all the illustrations I've seen on medical websites seem to show them quite near the exit hatch, so to speak. If I ever get an appointment I suppose I'll find out. Thanks again, very helpful. James.

its ok.. i know what its like to have your mind run wild.

until they put a camera up there they cant know for sure how many there are if any.

i knew i had them as they sometimes would come out with bm and bleeding.

my issues were always there but made more apparent after child birth.
