How did you realise something was wrong? Macular Hole

What were your symptoms when you discovered you had a Macular Hole? I woke with a strange yellow circle with a black hole in the middle of it. It was more noticable when I blinked and if I blinked fast the circle flashes on and off.

I've been diagnosed with stage 3 thickness towards a Macular Hole. I'm being told they want to wait 2 or 3 months incase it goes away on it's own. Everything I've read though seems to say it's best to operate asap as waiting makes it worse.

I don't see wavy words or lines in my sight as I've read is a symptom. My symptom is the circle with spot in the middle. and a small feeling of pain intermittent, maybe once or twice a day.

I also had lots of black spots like floaters around my peripheral vision which I thought were birds when I was out walking. I covered my good eye and realised it wasn't birds but black dots as I moved my eyes around. I also read that MH normally affects your central vision so I'm surprised by the floaters in my peripheral vision. It's early days in the diagnosis stages for me but I just wondered if anyone had any thoughts on my symptoms and whether anyone has experienced the circle as a symptom?
