It should say either uric acid or urate with a figure next to it. There would probably also be a normal range next to it which for women is something like 2.5-7.5 mg/dL and a bit higher for men.

Are you supposed to have had it done? If so, just ask the practice.

yes i have the results in front of me and there is no uric acid , could it be

serum urate level (xmois) result 0.18mmol/L [0.14-0.36]

      thank you

Yes, most likely and slap bang in the normal range - so you less likely to have gout! Though of course, you can never say never! You aren't having an attack at the moment are you? The blood level does tend to fall during an acute attack - because the uric acid is forming crystals in the joint and causing the trouble. During an attack you should look at fluid from the affected joint.

i was having attacks when i had my blood done i am having pain full stop ne relief  from it even tho im on pain killers, got an emergency app at Chapel Allerton today on my doctors request so will see what they say, i am so down at the moment cannot walk, pain in hip joints, arms , wrist, hands, neck and shoulders so i will see what they say. If the pain went it would help, and i could walk when i was on 9mg a day, now down to 7.5 and it feels as if all hell has let loose on me.

Never mind im sure somebody will find out whats wrong, me i think its PMR but who am i to say.

At least if they see it in full flow they can't argue about the pain level can they? Good luck.

I find the steroid shots are really stingy at the time - but the relief afterwards ususally makes it worth it! Hope it works quickly.

Hmm - CPK is high is it, that suggests it might possibly be polymyositis. I think that is treated with high dose pred usually, a short time at high dose and then reduce. I don't know how polymyositis works - I suppose it could also be like some sorts of inflammatory arthritis where it flares which would cause the raised values, and then goes quiet for a while. I don't know if there are other things with high enzymes like that.

At least they've seen it in full flow though so it should be something for them to focus on and with a bit of luck you'll have a relatively pain-free Christmas!
