How do I know?

so here i am nearly 5 weeks post hip replacement walking on one crutch , going out for 2 mile walks, back in the kitchen . pottering with no crutch ( cos i forget it) , then yesterday going to answer the door and my old but big labrador crashed into me and hit my operated leg, the pain was incredible, i had to sit down and breathe. the pain was awful all day , all in my buttock.not in the groin area.

i suspect i have pulled the muscle but im now 24 hours on and can walk on it and do exercises ( gently) .

did anything similar happen to anyone else?

Hi ruth had bilateral hips replaced last year (not at the same sitting ) LHR Oct then 8 weeks later RHR....I'm 53 very active and always been into fitness (that's how I'd worn them out )...anyway did long term physio my muscles feel tight and I can nearly touch my knees to my shoulders...but after about 5 months post RHR I replaced all the guttering on my garage and was on a step ladder most of the day...for the next few days after I had to go back to the crutches I was in so much pain I could hardly walk....after about a week I was back to normal again....so the best advice I can offer is don't worry, you've probably upset a muscle, maybe the Abductor muscle...and it'll settle down I'm sure over the next few weeks...as my very good surgeon said. .."its a marathon, not a sprint"post op...

I still get the odd twinge now and again, but I never worry about it now, because I know it's only a muscle or tendon causing mischief, and not my hips because they're not made of bone anymore...

Good luck and I'm sure you'll be fine..
