How do I know if my problem is my IBS or something else?

I have had IBS for over 20 years now and every so many years it changes a little, like where it was mostly constipation it might change to mostly diarrhea, etc. Also, it can change in severity and so forth. So, my question is...how do I know if it's just my IBS changing or if I have a different problem going on? I don't want to needlessly go through those horrible tests again just to find out that it's just my IBS but I don't want to ignore something that could be wrong with me either. So, has anyone else been through this before?

Most probably it is all about your ibs journey, as it may include such changes by time. However and unfortunately only way to make sure is to see a gastro doctor to eliminate non ibs causes
Since you are worried again now, this may trigger your ibs symptoms as well. Thus, I suggest see a doctor and eliminate other risk factors. Dont know your age, but if it is over 40 then having a colonoscopy is beneficial.

At 45 I am waiting for the 3rd diagnosis in 10 years, I have been told this is diverticulosis, IBS (1st) and now a coeliac test has come back flagged. What does this mean?I don't get the results until next week. Hope you get the answers you need. Good luck.

But what's the difference between that and IBS in terms of diet, mine is already part gluten free as it is.
