How do I know that my yeast infection is healed?
Posted , 1 user is following.
I was diagnosed 3 weeks ago with yeast infection (which caused me also to have balanitis because I realised that I had the former a bit late) and I used a cream (miconazole, nitrate, hydrocortizone) for 2 weeks.
I have never had anything like that in my life and probably it was caused by the fact that I had unprotected sex with my girlfriend about 1,5 month before the diagnosis (basically I started to feel that something was going wrong with my penis when the yeast infection caused balanitis ).
Specifically an approximate "diary" of the series of events is the following:
5th of August: my girlfriend does an STD test (and the results show that she is "clean")
11th of August: we have unprotected sex
11th of August to 20th of September of: we have protected sex (protected for the sole reason that condoms provide extra lubrication)
20th of September: my penis feels pretty sore and irritated (redness, burning sensation and some smegma - nothing like pain when peeing or blisters or bumps etc)
23th of September: I go to the doctor and I am diagnosed with balanitis probably caused by yeast infection
23th of September to 10th of October: Used the cream (with a stupid break of 3 days after the first 6 days because I thought that I was fine but the yeast infection came back in 2 days)
So now I am 5 days without the cream and my penis looks and feels rather normal.
It does not have any (at least obvious) redness and it is not any sore at least when I do not touch it or when I touch it gently - I have not done anything more intense the last 3 weeks with it (for example sex) where it may feel sore so I am not sure.
**So my question is how do I know that the yeast infection is "totally" gone and I am back at my previous state before being affected by it?
