How do I not get affected by others depression?

Hey guys

I hope all is as well as can be.

Recently my niece came to visit me and my mum for a few days and we know she is having some depression problems.

Thing is when she was staying she was talking about depression and confidence issues which made me start to feel a bit down too, even though I am reasonably ok.

How do I prevent these thoughts from affecting me? Cause when I remember on what she said it makes me feel off guard if you know what I mean.

Try and change the subject to something more positive, not much more you can do.

I’ve suffered with depression on and off for many years. I have been well now for some time. I have a friend I’ve known for 6 years who has always been melancholy. I remember when I went to visit her a couple times, when I entered her home I just felt this oppression come over me and could actually feel her depression in my own body!

Now we meet at restaurants or I talk very briefly with her and then move on and shake it off! Depression is powerful and it’s completely normal for you to absorb your nieces feelings. Try to ask her before she keeps rambling on about  her depression about things that she could think of for her to be grateful for

There is always something, “You live you have hope “ Depression is an inability to construct a future in ones mind.  Be honest with her 76 about how you are feeling and that the conversation needs to go in a more positive direction. If she can’t exclude yourself and go to a more

    Enlightened environment!!

    Thanks for your share!

    I care,
