I'm recently on my first break out of genital herpes. My vagina is covered and I'm on day 3/5 of Aciclovir.
The blisters on my inner vagina lips have started to burst and I'm at a point where walking is painful. I haven't wee'd in 24 hours because im too afraid and I'm feeling completely incompetent. I'm so desperate to get these healing fast any home remedies or creams I can get in the UK to help? I'm currently having a break down and I swear its the end of the world, someone please help me, I'm desperate!

Hi Sophie,
I'm sorry you're feeling so awful. The first is almost always the worst, so hang in there. Be gentle with yourself because herpes, especially the first outbreak, really HURTS and can knock you for a loop. You're body is in pain and you probably feel exhausted. Get lots of sleep, eat well and try to get lots of sleep. Treat yourself as if you have the flu because you kind of do. Virus' suck.
I know it hurts to urinate, but you really don't want to hold your urine!! In fact, the more water you drink, the better! You absolutely want to hydrate your system as much as possible. You wanna flush, flush, flush.
Here's a trick for peeing that helps some: Take 2 wash cloths and fold them up into thirds then fold it over on them selves so they're as thick as you can make them. You basically want to make them really thick and hold them over either side of your labial lips and spread the lips apart as far as you can to protect the blisters from the urine. Does that make sense?
Sometimes squatting in the tub and pulling your lips far apart can help keep the urine from splashing on the blisters.
Some people will coat the lips with a thick layer Vaseline to try and help protect them as well.
For pain relief, some people take warm baths with Epsom salts, but be sure to dry yourself off very well afterwards. You don't want to leave the area any moister than it already is.
The one thing that has TRULY, consistently helped curb my outbreaks is taking a daily L-Lysine supplement. I take two 1,000MG every day. Then, if I ever feel there might be an outbreak coming on, I take 3 tablets, twice a day for several days. Then I go back to the two a day. This has really kept my outbreak (OB) free for YEARS. I know some people have more success with it than others, but it really, really works for me. I order them from Amazon and the brand I use is Amazing Formulas brand, but you can get quality L-Lysine at any pharmacy.
I'm NOT recommending this as I am not a health professional, but I do not even take Aciclovir anymore as the L-Lysine is a simple amino acid and it works BETTER, for ME.
Hope this helps and PLEASE don't hold your urine, ok? It's ultimately just going to make your body feel worse
Sending lots of healing vibes your way.

Thank you so much for the reply.
I actually had the same kind of idea yesterday and had two thick layers of tissue and put them under the cold tap and put them each side of the lips to have a wee. But I couldn't relax at all so didn't end up going anyway.
Today I was given Lidocaine ointment which has completely numbed me and I've actually had the biggest wee and I literally cried tears of joy I was so relieved!
My Mum has plenty of Epsom salts but I am afraid to use them on my burst blisters because I've heard that could irratate them? Or does it help healing? I'm confused with that.
Thanks for the recommendation of Lysine. I think I'm going to get it, just to try it. You never know until you try.
I can finally see a small light at the end of the tunnel! Thank you so much!

I returned home from Greece on Monday, Tuesday I started to feel in complete agony, on Wednesday I was treated for UTI... I then noticed the bumps coming on Thursday so returned to Doctors Friday in floods of tears.
On Friday the doctor took one look and said herpes, didn’t give me any information and hasn’t offered me a blood test. I was supposed to return to work on Wednesday but as you can imagine, I just couldn’t due to the pain.
I still don’t think I can return tomorrow, I do a lot of walking and sitting in my job and couldn’t think of anything worse.
I’m absolutely petrified for my next outbreak. I’m going to go back to the doctors tomorrow to request a blood test and information on this. I’m so annoyed
