How do I tell my girlfriend of 4 years I have genital herpes?

I know this Sounds crazy rite?I REALLY NEED HELP!!!!!! Well, let me start at the beginning. I have a girlfriend of which I've been together with for 4 years and on top of that... we have 2 beautiful kids together. Anyway, I've been exposed to hsv2 before I got involved in a relationship with her. My ex had it and assured me it wasn't anything to worry about since she took medicine everyday and she had no bumps or anything. So, being the "in-love fool" that I was I completely disregarded her having hsv and enjoyed our relationship worry free. Also, I've never had any signs of having caught hsv from her so I believed her. Fast foward 4 years later and these bumps appear on my penis. I'M DEVASTATED!!! Not only do I not know how to tell her but, what if she thinks I cheated and leaves me? Even knowing I didn't cheat I couldn't bare losing her. Also, we're in the National Guard. Meaning, we get tested for diseases and things of that nature. I know HIV is something we're tested for certainly but hsv... I'm not to sure. Either way, we've both come back clean everytime. I don't understand how it could be in my system so long without a trace. Please someone, anyone help me. And thank you.

just because theres bumps doesnt mean you have hsv it could be something else. try not to worry.

I really hope it's not. It'd possibly ruin everything. I'll live with it if i have too but she'll probably leave me. Here's to hoping the best.

first, I would go ahead and get checked out by a doctor asap.. if you can take a photo for later use for the doc. and take note of the progression. anything can resemble Hsv . so the best thing to do is have them swabbed, and maybe a IGG blood test. I would get your professional dig. before breaking the news to tour girlfriend, however, i do think you should let her know of the possibility, and go from there.

Your are tested for HIV every year, but not for HSV. That is only a test that would be performed if your PC suspected you had it...

They test everyone that way. I'm not sure why. It's apart of our physical I believe.
