How do you cope?

Hello everyone, 29yo male here.

I'm in the first month of the infection and although my sore throat and fever are gone, my body feels off. I've been feeling down, exhausted, sad, listless, apathetic. Nothing seems to cheer me up...

My parents and my co-workers have been very supportive and my body seems to be healing, but I find it too hard to do even the easiest tasks. I want to keep my mind somewhere else, but the pains and needles, the chills, the headaches and the tiredness make it impossible.

I want to learn how to live with it little by little. Any advice would be appreciated.

Greetings.

This November will be 2 years recovering for me. The worst most downplayed virus out there capable of causing so much harm to the body. I'm finally having joy in my life agsin. Darkest place I have ever been. I'm 46 so it was much harder to fight without youth on my side but no matter is devastating at any age. Hang in there, try to stay focused on recovery and the fact that you are NOT alone. It helped me to eat absolutely stellar...no sugar, dairy, processed foods and juice a lot ...fresh from a juicer. L lysine and monolaurin are great!

    Hi Dan,

it really is a horrible virus that I just had no clue about! I'm a 40 year old and I've had it for 11  months but I am improving and I feel like I'm getting better!  The exhaustion is exhausting!! The tiredness, aches, chills, burning legs, pins and needles will all fade slowly. I just have to listen to my body and rest when it says stop.

It's  a roller coaster of ups and downs of getting better.

rolane - wow, how are you doing now nearly two years on?!

Hey was just curious as to what symptoms you still have? I come down with an illness last year and was suspected to be glandular fever due to symptoms but the test was a bit late and returned saying i had previous infection..  still have a bunch of symptoms and its taking its toll on my body and my mind!!

      Hi kurt,

my my legs still burn. I am doing well and have quite good days but I can't do too much. I'm in bed early every night as I'm tired by then!  I still have a way to go but I've come along way too!!!

I just have to be patient. And I don't want to be anymore 😕

.....yes, it's very hard on your body AND mind. I have cried a lot but it's getting better. It fades slowly.

      Hi,

After two years I'm much better. Working full time but stress gets to me easily. I still have mini relapses where I'm exhausted but I just have learned to ride them out. I developed POTS post viral and it's a form of dysautonomia. ..kinda of autoimmune issues. But they are managed with eating well and rest. It's wicked! Stay strong.

      Hi rolane,

i am so pleased you are doing so much better now. Can I ask.... Do you think having 'pots' prolonged the illness for you?! That will just get better too, am I right?

      this virus is just wicked

Absolutely. However, Pots also has the same symptoms as adrenal fatigue so I went to a functional med md who treated my adrenals through diet and supplements. The major symptoms of Pots are gone. However, I still get tired easily and brain fog often visits. I'm definitely not the same...but my quality of life is improving and I can enjoy things again. The severe anxiety is fairly well gone.

Thinking of you Rolane, so sorry to hear you've been through such turmoil with this, I'm just hoping things can continue to improve for you and believe that they still will - hang in there and it's nice to see your name pop up here again and take care of yourself - one day at a time is all any of us can do, I'm trying to learn that at the moment too!

    Hey Dan,

So sorry to hear you've been having such a tough time with glandular fever, it really is such a horrible thing to go through and thinking about you. Just want to reassure you that those physical and emotional feelings you are going through are all normal and that they will pass over and you will get better - I know that doesn't help at the time when going through it, I went through the same and it is such a draining experience.

Definitely good thing to rest and remove stress as much as possible, a mistake many folk make is by trying to battle through and work through the virus, etc, and it doesn't respond well to that at all your body needs time to recover from this - and it will. Also taking some good vitamins and herbs really helped me, taking a strong multi-vitamin per day is a great idea, as well as things like B complex for energy, and immune boosting herbs like echnicea and siberian ginseng can really help - also high doses of Vitamin C (1000mg-3000mg per day) can really help too and make sure you are also getting Vitamin D.

Hang in there and don't worry - you will make a full recovery, don't panic if it doesn't come right away it can take a bit of time sometimes but you definitely will make a total 100% recovery I truly believe - God will bring healing, hang in there and thinking about you.

    Hi Dan,

The end of this month will be a year, I feel much better now, I started feeling better at 6.5 months and then had a relapse at nine months as I started doing to much, My best advice is listen to your body, you will have the feelings you described for awhile, all are normal in my experience. I never thought that I would feel normal again. Rest is so important. I am also 55 so my recovery has been longer.

Glad to hear things are a bit better for you Mono....it's not easy for sure, for some it can take longer than others so of course just to reassure Dan that it doesn't need to be as long as that to recover - it just seems to affect everyone in different ways. Hoping your daughter and grand-daughter are doing as well as can be expected and managing okay too.

      Hi Craig,

Grandaughters are better, being young works to their advantage, my daughter is still fighting the battle. She has had a few hours of feeling a little better here and there, hoping for a change soon.

      How is your back?

      Hey Mono,

That is good news that your grand-daughters are doing better, that's a positive - still thinking about you and your daughter I know it's been such a tough time. I've still not been having a good time with my back and been thinking too much about a lot of stuff and not focussing right...just hope for a change soon for us all in a good way as you say - still trusting in Jesus to be there for us and pull us through.

      Hi mono,

i know you've roughly had this the same length as me and seem to be recovering the same too....

im having a difficult couple of days right now, feeling tired, low mood etc, I was just wondering if you still get these moments? I don't get them often now and when I'm feeling well I think that they will never happen again. It's just hard when it comes back especially after a long time, I feel like it should be gone, I've been progressing so well.

      Hi Caroline,

?Yes, I still get those days, Tuesday I was feeling down and a little nausea but it went away in a few hours. I had a pretty good week overall. I know what you mean about the disappointment when it comes back though, I am looking forward to the day that it doesn't.

      Hi mono,

im so glad you said that,(not that I want you to be ill but it just makes me feel normal) I feel like we are going at the same pace. Last night and all morning I've felt just ugh. Nausea and not well. I seem brighter now though. It's great it doesn't last like it used to but yes, waiting for the time it never returns!!  It's been too long. 😖

      thanks mono.😊👍

      Hi Caroline,

?While I feel better, last week had a few down hours on Saturday and Tuesday and then last night wasn't feeling to great and this morning not so hot, we will see how the day goes. I sure hope this virus is ready to give up.

      Gosh mono,

last Sunday wasn't great for me, but by afternoon I was gradually improving. Have been feeling ok today, good mood wise but I still feel like I need to breathe deep.

yeah, it really does need to give up soon, I know I keep saying I'm sick of it but I just want to live normally again, run around, drink wine, do stuff, stay up,past 8pm!

      Hi Caroline,

I can relate to that, I feel better this afternoon. It is so weird how it will come on for a few hours and then let up,  Its like a visitor now rather than a  guest.

That's a good sign Mono that you're having spells when feeling better, it means that it's on the way out and that will become more and more like that as time goes on. Caroline knows about this too I know!! Thinking about you both still and your family also Mono.
