How do you cope

I just joined the community. I was diagnosed with trigeminal neuropathy about a year ago. I currently take carbamazepine and gabapentin. While it does dull the pain it is far from taking it away. I am at a lost and my quality of life has taken a huge hit. It feel like the ability to ever have a nice steak will always be out of reach. Some days the pain is bad enough that just talking brings tears to my eyes.

How do you deal with this. My neurologist says I have maxed out on the drug dosage. I am at my wits end and looking for some advice

Sorry that you're going through this.

I have been having a dull ache in upper jaw/in front of my ear for about a month. It goes away sometimes and comes back again. I've had sharp pains lasting 2 or 3 seconds sometimes but not too much. Mostly it feels like some pressure or ache.

Could this be trigeminal neuralgia? Or TMJ pain? I'm pretty scared.

    I'm a 20 year old female.
